Being a precursor to Breaking Bad, AMC spinoff Better Call Saul shares many characters with its progenitor, including several that have already appeared in season 6. While Better Call Saul's story is mostly focused on its title character, shady lawyer Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), one of the great joys of the show for audiences has been getting to reconnect with some of Breaking Bad's best characters. That's especially true for those characters who didn't make it out of Breaking Bad's finale alive.

For example, viewers have gotten to learn more about the past history of people like bodyguard/hitman Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) and drug kingpin Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), two characters who spent their time on Breaking Bad usually preferring to keep their feelings and thoughts to themselves. Now, fans have a better idea of what makes them tick, as well as why they ended up as emotionally hardened as they are by the time of Breaking Bad. This is the kind of character development a prequel should accomplish, and Better Call Saul season 6 has even more in store.

Of course, Better Call Saul creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould were nice enough to drop a big bombshell in advance of season 6's premiere. Breaking Bad lead characters Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) will appear during season 6 in some capacity, but it's unclear how. For now though, here's every Breaking Bad character that's part of Better Call Saul season 6.

Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman

Better Call Saul's central character Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman finds himself struggling a bit in season 6 so far, suffering from P.T.S.D. as a result of his harrowing ordeal in the desert, and also worried about an increasingly unscrupulous Kim Wexler. Jimmy is also torn on Kim's plan to take down Howard Hamlin, even if he does indeed hate the guy. At least for now he's unaware that Lalo Salamanca isn't really dead.

Mike Ehrmantraut

Jonathan Banks as Mike in Better Call Saul

While always a loyal soldier for the right price and a pragmatist by nature, Mike Ehrmantraut is clearly having trouble continuing his working relationship with boss Gus Fring, thanks to Gus demanding the deaths of Werner Ziegler and Nacho Varga. Mike liked and respected both men, and didn't feel their murders were warranted. Still, Mike remains loyal to Gus for now.

Gus Fring

Gus Fring remains every bit the ruthless drug lord in Better Call Saul that he was in Breaking Bad, although the prequel has provided more of a glimpse behind the curtain at his humanity. While there are occasions that Gus absolutely can't be convinced to change his mind, Mike has been able to reason with him at times. His emotional plea for Mike to return to his employ and defeat the Salamancas was also revealing.

Hector Salamanca

Hector Salamanca began Better Call Saul still very much a crime boss, but now resides in the chair he'll occupy until the end of his life, thanks to Nacho and Gus. Still, it's hard to feel sympathy for such a vindictive man, especially after watching him impotently fire gunshots into Nacho's dead body.

Leonel & Marco Salamanca

Raised by their uncle Hector Salamanca, twin assassins Leonel and Marco are two of the most feared characters in the Breaking Bad universe. Their appearances on Better Call Saul have been no different, even if Nacho did manage to escape them temporarily before his death during season 6.

Huell Babineaux

Saul's imposingly large associate Huell has already paid dividends for Jimmy and Kim during Better Call Saul season 6, assisting with their plot to ruin Howard Hamlin. Along the way, Huell astutely questioned why two gainfully employed lawyers continue to commit crimes. Jimmy didn't have much of an answer to offer.

Juan Bolsa

Juan Bolsa

A high-ranking member of the cartel and a close associate of the Salamancas, a lot of Juan Bolsa's energy is dedicated to keeping the peace between them and Gus. Bolsa almost died during Better Call Saul season 6 thanks to a last-minute action by Nacho, but audiences already know he doesn't survive Breaking Bad.

Victor

One of Breaking Bad's most shocking moments saw Gus brutally murder his trusted henchman Victor, seemingly for cooking meth without approval. Victor is still alive and working for Gus during Better Call Saul season 6, unaware of his harsh fate to come. With a boss like Gus though, it's best to ask permission.

Tyrus Kitt

Tyrus Kitt works alongside Victor as one of Gus' top henchman, although he's famously much less vocal. Not that that matters, as his imposing presence is enough to terrify most. In Better Call Saul, he serves the same function as he did in Breaking Bad, where he ultimately replaces Victor as Gus' right hand.

Francesca Liddy

Francesca Liddy was "rescued" by Jimmy from a life working at the DMV in Better Call Saul, although their professional relationship has been rocky at times, to say the least. She's yet to appear in season 6, but is confirmed to eventually turn up. Not surprising, since she works as Saul's secretary in Breaking Bad.

Wendy

Julia Minesci as Wendy in Better Call Saul

Wendy appeared in Breaking Bad as a meth addict prostitute who Jesse enlisted to provide rather unconventional assistance several times. She reemerged in Better Call Saul season 6, episode 4 under the employ of Jimmy and Kim, who use her as part of their scam to undermine Howard's law career.

Spooge

David Ury as Spooge in Better Call Saul

The rather crudely named character Spooge showed up on Breaking Bad as another local meth addict, and also eventual thief of an ATM. Spooge will one day meet a crushing fate thanks to said machine, but also appears in Better Call Saul season 6, episode 4 as a local criminal looking to hire Saul Goodman.

Jesse Pinkman

Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad

While the biggest question going into Better Call Saul season 6 was how Jimmy - and Gene's - story will end, right up there is how Jesse Pinkman and Walter White will be incorporated into the prequel. Jesse is canonically alive after El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, so he could theoretically pop up during the Gene timeline. He could also briefly encounter Saul, since he suggested hiring him to Walt, and knew his reputation as a "criminal lawyer."

Walter White

Walter White standing in the desert in Breaking Bad.

Unlike Jesse, Walter White is at least purported to be dead in Gene's present, unless the wildest of fan theories is realized and he turns out to have survived Breaking Bad's finale At the same time, if he interacted with Saul prior to Breaking Bad, even briefly, it's odd that he wouldn't remember him later on, and vice versa. Then again, maybe Better Call Saul season 6 will take an unconventional path to Walt's cameo, having him appear as some kind of hallucination had by a paranoid Gene that's perhaps still terrified of Lalo's wrath.
