Better Call Saul has released a new teaser, giving fans their first look at footage from season 4. It may have begun life as a spinoff to Breaking Bad, but over three seasons Better Call Saul has stepped out of the shadow of its acclaimed predecessor and established itself as one of TV's top dramas in its own right.

Season 3 proved to be a pivotal one in the evolution of small-time grifter Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) into shady lawyer Saul Goodman. The key development was the death of Jimmy's brother Chuck (Micheal McKean), an event which is bound to push Jimmy further down the road to fully embracing his morally bankrupt alter ego. More characters from Breaking Bad are expected to appear in season 4 as Jimmy/Saul becomes increasingly immersed in the criminal life. And how will all this affect his relationship with girlfriend/colleague Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn)?

A new teaser for Better Call Saul season 4 has been released via Twitter, and it's safe to say fans won't get any answers from it. The brief clip does promise more violence coming, which is not a surprise given where things were left at the end of season 3. And the clip also affords fans a welcome glimpse of Giancarlo Esposito's legendary character Gus Fring, who as usual is in the middle of calmly dealing with something very serious. See the clip below:

Better Call Saul, like its AMC predecessors Breaking Bad and Mad Men, keeps its promotional material vague in order to preserve the surprise for audiences. This teaser only poses questions for fans to ponder as they await the Better Call Saul premiere, which is still a couple of months away. Who's the shadowy figure in the parking lot? Who is the person in the leather jacket and what are they holding? Whose dead body is that on the ground? Who is that getting shot and falling down next to the car? What does Gus mean when he says "Now is not a good time"?

As Better Call Saul's storyline continues to close in on the events of Breaking Bad, the show seems like it must inevitably become more violent and tense. When fans met Saul in Breaking Bad, he was already deeply involved with the criminal element, and now they get a chance to see more of how Jimmy/Saul ended up with so many not-very-nice friends in the first place.
