Fans of Better Call Saul were probably as heartbroken as Jimmy did when Kim Wexler declared that she could no longer stay married to him. In a show that rarely focuses on romantic relationships, Kim and Jimmy had been the perfect symbols of love. Nonetheless, it was logically a good decision since being with Jimmy was turning Kim into a soulless person.

So far, Kim has been nothing but endearing. In a show populated by Breaking Bad alumni, the spinoff exclusive character has managed to stand out by being a great lawyer and a champion for professionalism. She sure has made some incredible comments too but which ones best reflect her character?

"I Think We Should Only Use Our Power For Good."

When She Vows To Not Help More Guilty People

Jimmy is thrilled after working with Kim to save one of the funniest Better Call Saul characters, Huell from jail time. He boasts that he and Kim will be a powerful duo and that criminals will soon be begging for their services but she disagrees, proposing that they should use their skills for better purposes.

As someone who has a great moral compass, Kim doesn't buy into the idea that they should adopt the "Huell Babineaux Treatment" going forward. To Kim, the fact that they managed to win the Huell case shouldn't make them defend more guilty people. On her part, she foresees a future where she and Jimmy help the hopeless, though that never comes to pass.

“You Don't Save Me. I Save Me."

When She Declines Jimmy's Offer To Quit

Kim in Better Call Saul Season 4 Finale

At the height of Jimmy's feud with Chuck, Kim gets assigned to the mail room. Jimmy deduces that Chuck and Howard are doing this to get at him so he offers to stop working for Davis & Main. However, Kim rubbishes the idea.

Kim has always been against the concept of sitting back and waiting for others to save her. As dire as the situation is, she reasons she can climb out of it herself rather than be the damsel in distress. Her reaction is commendable, considering that the mess was actually created by Jimmy and he should be the one to clean it up. And by refusing his offer, she reaffirms how deeply she loves him.

When She Berates Howard For Disrespecting Jimmy

Kim calls out Howard for refusing to hire Jimmy in Better Call Saul

Kim confronts Howard when he offers Jimmy a job right after one of the most shocking Better Call Saul deaths, that of his brother, Chuck. She considers it foolish because Chuck hated Jimmy and he would have never allowed him to get the job.

One thing Kim does best is standing up for others and since Jimmy is the person closest to her, he's the person she does this for the most. The job offer from Howard is obviously an insult since he and Chuck denied Jimmy the same opportunity not so long ago. Kim knows that Howard is only doing it to make himself feel better about neglecting Chuck before his death. And since whatever he is doing is discourteous to Jimmy, she makes sure to lash out at him.

"Jimmy, You Are Always Down."

When She Gives Jimmy A Reality Check

Jimmy informs Kim that he is about to change his name in Better Call Saul

Kim and Jimmy have an argument when she first refuses to share an office with him. He claims she doesn't support him but she reminds him just how many times she has done so. She also vows to not help him again and when he claims she is kicking him when he is down, she responds blunly.

More than anyone else in the series, Kim thrives on honesty. She tells it like it is, letting Jimmy know that there is rarely a time when he doesn't have a major problem to fix. Kim never reacts too kindly to ungratefulness either. She feels that since she is always there during Jimmy's clean-up processes, he should be more thankful rather than full of lamentations.

"You've Heard Of The Cayman Islands, Right? Jesus, Get Your Sh*t Together."

When She Orders Lalo To Stay Away From Jimmy

Lalo shows up at Jimmy and Kim's apartment wanting to know what really happened when Jimy went to collect his $7 million bail money in the desert. When he starts harassing them, Kim steps up, reminding him that a major drug trafficker like him shouldn't have to rely on a lawyer to collect his money for him.

Despite never having found herself in a combat situation, Kim is one of the bravest characters in the series. Standing up to one of the best Better Call Saul villains is indeed impressive. Here, she not only chastises him but reminds him that intelligent criminals use shell companies or the Cayman Islands when it comes to money-related issues.

"I Appreciate The Gift, But Now That I'm Able To Afford It, I Wanna Pay You Back."

When She Hands A Check To Howard

During a luncheon, Kim surprises Howard with a check. When he asks what it's for, she says it's for the law school loans he paid for her when she started working at HHM.

Once again, Kim's remarks point to her tendency to be self-reliant. Generally, she prefers a situation where she doesn't owe anyone anything. The remarks also point to her level of gratitude. In a show where everyone never seems to appreciate what others do for them, Kim does, even when the help comes from someone she doesn't like.

"I Feel Sorry For Him. And I Feel Sorry For You."

When She Scolds Chuck For Feuding With Jimmy

Fed up with the bad blood between Jimmy and Chuck, she advises the former HHM partner to treat his brother better. And in her assessment, she doesn't favor Jimmy either.

Kim hates chaos. It's part of the reason she eventually ends up breaking up with Jimmy. To her, it doesn't make sense that two successful brothers would choose to feud with each other rather than live in harmony. She is sad that Chuck can't treat his brother better and sad that Jimmy has to use questionable means to get to the end, just because his brother won't support him.

When She Pitches Her Services To Merse Verde

Kim talking to Mesa Verde clients in Better Call Saul

When Kim meets Paige and Kevin to convince them to make her the litigator of Mesa Verde Bank and Trust, she uses a jacket analogy to make herself seem like the best fit. Sadly, Kevin chooses to stay with HHM.

Kim's general intellect is what's underscored in the particular scene. Having practiced law for years, she understands how important it is for attorneys and clients to work well together. If a client chooses a wrong fit, they will be ruined, and that's exactly what happens to Mesa Verde because HHM doesn't end up representing their interest well.

"Winning Doesn’t Always Mean Getting A Favorable Verdict At Trial."

When She Advises The Kettlemans To Accept A Plea Deal

Soon after he is accused of embezzling $1.6 million from the Bernalillo County accounts, treasurer Craig Kettleman hires Kim as his attorney. After analyzing all possible outcomes, she advises him to take a plea deal.

Never at any given point has Kim not had her client's best interests at heart. And among her best attributes is the ability to make people look at situations from a different angle. Here, Craig and his wife are eager to get a "not guilty" verdict but Kim knows this isn't possible. Though Craig is against the idea at first, he soon realizes that Kim was in fact right.

"Apart We're Okay, But Together We're Poison."

When She Breaks Up With Jimmy

Better Call Saul season 6 Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler

Shortly after the deaths of Howard and Lalo, Kim opts to change her ways. She surprises Jimmy by telling him she can no longer be with him.

There are many reasons why Kim and Jimmy are good for each other but her conscience transcends romance. She realizes that they have caused others so much harm. Howard wouldn't be dead if it wasn't for them and many other people wouldn't have suffered. Before she met him, she was a decent lawyer but now she is just as treacherous as him. She, therefore, makes the painful decision to end things.
