WARNING: This post contains Better Call Saul season 6 spoilers

Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad fans rejoice over the prequel's penultimate episode titled "Waterworks," where Kim Wexler meets Jesse Pinkman. In this episode, Kim returns after being absent from the previous two episodes that took place mainly in the black-and-white Gene timeline, except for select Breaking Bad scenes with Walter and Jesse, culminating in the return of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Jimmy calls Kim in the previous episode after hearing that she asked about him, but the contents of the call are unknown and only shown from Jimmy's perspective.

The episode displayed Kim's life after she left Jimmy back in season 6, episode 9, revealing that she resides in Titusville, Florida, with her boyfriend, living a mundane, suburban life working at a sprinkler company. It also disclosed her side of the phone call to Jimmy, wanting Jimmy to turn himself in, causing him to rant at her, and daring her to confess what they did to Howard. But the episode also showed a scene of Kim in the Breaking Bad timeline, visiting Jimmy/Saul's newly-designed law office to sign the divorce papers and later outside in an iconic scene with the return of a pivotal character from the predecessor series.

After signing the divorce papers and meeting Saul's immediate detached and rude reaction to her in the latest episode of Better Call Saul, Kim goes outside where it's heavily raining to smoke a cigarette and meets Jesse Pinkman for the first time and shares a smoke with him. In the scene, Jesse recognizes her when she defends another Breaking Bad character, Combo, and asks her if Saul is a good lawyer based on his over-the-top commercials. Kim responds that he was back when she knew him. The scene was a well-written piece of fan service, and fans quickly took to social media to share their glee.

While the two shows have had their characters meet multiple times, this moment feels like a clash of two worlds as some fans have pointed out that Kim and Jesse have similar paths and character arcs. Kim has just gone through such deeply traumatic events and is realizing that she needs to get out of this life while she still has a chance, while Jesse has yet to begin the severity of his criminal activities that would ruin his life.

Fans who have seen Breaking Bad know they would ultimately end up as broken characters and reflect on who they were. Cranston divulged that the return of Walt and Jesse would be spread into three scenes, with one featuring the both of them, one featuring only Jesse, and one featuring only Walt. So while viewers may have seen the last of Jesse in this universe, another Walter White scene has yet to reveal itself. With the show's series finale next week, it will be exciting to see how that will be incorporated into the episode and the parallels it will draw with Jimmy's life and ending. Better Call Saul will air its series finale next week, and fans will eagerly look forward to seeing what the end has in store.
