Better Call Saul is one of the best - if not the best - drama series in the world right now, with Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan aiming to surpass the legacy they created with Breaking Bad. Much like its predecessor, Better Call Saul excels in character development, with most of the focus on Saul Goodman or Jimmy McGill, even though Kim Wexler has risen through the ranks to become arguably the best character on the show.

That by no means makes Jimmy McGill any less addictive. One can watch him all days of the week, pulling off his incredible conning tricks with absolute ease. Without further ado, here are the five times the fans felt bad for Jimmy, and five times they hated him.

Felt Bad: Chuck Setting Him Up

Chuck, most of the time, was the worst bigger brother one could ever wish to have. He just outright refused to believe that his little brother Jimmy could turn his life around because when he did, Chuck made sure that he didn't go any further.

He filled everyone's ears at HHM and then, like pure evil, he told Jimmy that he wanted to hire him for the firm but others didn't. He literally set his brother up for failure, which is sadistic, to be honest.

Hated Him: Disrespecting Chuck In Front Of Everyone

Regardless of what Chuck did to Jimmy, everyone knew that Jimmy had a good heart and that he wouldn't go to extreme lengths in order to defy his brother like that. But alas, everyone was proved wrong when Jimmy proved in front of a lot of people that his brother, Chuck, suffered from paranoia.

The worst thing about it was the fact that Jimmy invited Rebecca, Chuck's ex-girlfriend, to witness everything. It was really a very bad thing to do.

Felt Bad: The Struggle

Jimmy McGill is doing his magic work.

When the series began, Jimmy McGill wasn't a big name in the law business and thus, he tried to make his way up the ladder by taking up any jobs on offer. Jimmy was truly desperate in his early days and who can blame him?

He didn't have any money and he couldn't see any signs of progression. Jimmy kept ongoing, though, and that's a testament to his positive mindset. He never gave up and always believed that the better days are still ahead of him.

Hated Him: Disregard Towards Howard

This has to be one of the worst things about Jimmy. He constantly lies to himself in order to make himself feel better and that's exactly what he did with Howard Hamlin. After knowing the fact that Chuck was the real culprit, Jimmy continued to show disrespect to Howard, even though the latter always tried to help him.

Howard never really did anything bad to Jimmy but it feels like Jimmy holds a grudge against him and Kim can be added to this list too.

Felt Bad: Stuck In The Game

After successfully converting from Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman, the protagonist of the show was on the hunt of some new clients and funnily enough, he found himself in a game he didn't want any part of.

He got dragged into the Albuquerque drug scene and he wasn't even allowed to choose any sides. He was being used by both Lalo Salamanca and Gustavo Fring. To add to that, he didn't even know the repercussion of finding himself deep in the game. There's no going out for Jimmy now.

Hated Him: Lying To Kim Constantly

The only one in Jimmy's life who genuinely cares about him is Kim Wexler and yet, Jimmy always finds a way to make everything worse. Kim knows everything about Jimmy but for some reason, the latter always wants to hide things from her because he doesn't want her to know the real Jimmy McGill.

This lying doesn't help because Kim almost always figures out what's the truth and when she does that, Jimmy and Kim's relationship takes a hit.

Felt Bad: Tuco Salamanca Wants Blood

Tuco threatens Jimmy in the desert

Honestly, the first couple of episodes of the series are proper breathless and the biggest reason for that is the appearance of a familiar Tuco Salamanca.

Jimmy is trying one of his conning tricks and the people he is using for it find themselves in the crosshairs of a drug lord named Tuco. Soon, Jimmy finds himself in the middle of a desert, waiting to be killed at the hands of one of Tuco's men. But as expected, Jimmy talks his way out of the situation.

Hated Him: Playing With Emotions

Jimmy is a master of playing with people's emotions. He is so good at it that one can't even figure out whether he is serious or faking it. One such situation happened when he had his testimonial speech. It was his chance to save his job and regain the New Mexico Bar License.

So he used his brother Chuck's memory and played the emotional game with the judges. There was no way they weren't falling for Jimmy's best impression of Saul Goodman.

Felt Bad: Caught In The Crossfire

Lalo Salamanca hired Jimmy to do a job for him. He wanted the bail money, so he sent Jimmy knowing very well that something could go massively wrong. And it did, Jimmy was caught in the crossfire as one gang almost killed him.

But thanks to Mike, Jimmy, somehow, managed to get out of the situation with all of his body parts intact. Still, all of it had a huge impact on his well being.

Hated Him: Brought Out The Worse In Kim

There is no doubt that Slippin' Jimmy was a part of Jimmy McGill all along and all he was trying to do was hide it so that it doesn't come out again.

But that's easier said than done as Jimmy had his usual episodes of conning people. And because he was with Kim at the time, he made sure to successfully convert Kim into her worst version. In the season five finale, everything came a full circle with Kim wanting to end Howard's career through one of her conning tricks.
