Hailing from Liyue, Yun Jin is the director of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe and is a renowned Opera singer throughout the region. Her sweet singing voice and charming design are likely to inspire many players to want to build her for their party.
Yun Jin is a Geo polearm user and was released with her very own hangout event in Version 2.4. Players who play through her hangout event and are inspired to pull for her, and players who already have her, will need to know the weapons, artifacts, talents, and team compositions that work best on her.
Yun Jin is a Genshin Impact Support unit whose kit focuses on increasing the Normal ATK DMG of the team. Her abilities can also help the team recharge Energy by generating Elemental Particles. Her unique abilities make her function best in teams of various Elemental Types and with characters who use Normal attacks to deal damage.
How to Build Yun Jin in Genshin Impact
Yun Jin has several abilities in Genshin Impact:
Normal Attack: Cloud-Grazing Strike - Yun Jin performs up to five consecutive strikes.
Elemental Skill: Whirling Opener - Pressing this ability makes Yun Jin’s spear deal Geo DMG, and holding it forms a shield. The shield’s strength scales based on Yun Jin’s Max HP and absorbs all Elemental DMG and Physical DMG 150% more effectively. When the skill is used, when it ends, or when the shield breaks, the absorbed energy releases as a Geo DMG attack. The DMG of this ability scales with Yun Jin’s Defense.
Elemental Burst: Cliffbreaker’s Banner - Yun Jin deals AoE Geo DMG and grants all party members a Flying Cloud Flag Formation. This formation increases the Normal Attack DMG dealt based on Yun Jin’s current Defense. This ability also consumes stacks depending on the number of opponents hit, and this is counted individually per party member.
Players should focus on leveling up Yun Jin's Elemental Burst first to help increase the party’s damage. Next, players should focus on her Elemental Skill for the shield. Yun Jin will rarely be attacking with her Normal Attack unless she’s being used as a Main DPS unit, so players can focus on leveling that up last.
When selecting Yun Jin's artifacts, most players will want to use a four-Piece Husk of Opulent Dreams set. This set provides a 30% DEF buff, in addition to giving Yun Jin a Geo DMG boost and DEF and Geo DMG stacks. Players can also use a two-Piece Husk of Opulent Dreams and a two-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate if they want her to have an Energy Recharge boost.
Players should focus primarily on Defense for every artifact main stat since Yun Jin’s abilities scale with her Defense. Players could also substitute a DEF% Hourglass for an Energy Recharge one if they’re using a four-Piece Husk of Opulent Dreams set. For sub-stats, players should also focus mainly on DEF% and Energy Recharge.
Yun Jin can function well with a variety of weapons in Genshin Impact. In terms of 5-Star weapons, the Vortex Vanquisher provides an ATK boost, as well as increased shield strength. For 4-Star weapons, players can use a Deathmatch or The Catch.
Yun Jin’s kit doesn’t limit her to specific team compositions, so she can work well with almost any other character. As a Support, it’s best to have a team with one strong Main DPS and Sub-DPS who can enable Crystallize Elemental Reactions with Yun Jin. However, players can substitute Yun Jin as a shielding Support unit into almost any of their compositions, especially ones that need high Energy Recharge, for example, with Beidou.
