Immediately following the release of Wonder Woman: 1984, a third Wonder Woman film was greenlit with Patty Jenkins as director. Wonder Woman 3 will likely showcase Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in the modern era following the events of Justice League and its subsequent films. In addition, a spin-off, The Amazons is also in development and as the name implies will focus on other important characters from Themyscira.

As such, there are plenty of Wonder Woman’s relatives, allies, and adversaries who could be joining the DCEU sometime soon. Who are the biggest names in DC comics who might be making their debut in live-action in the near future?

Wonder Woman (Nubia)

Diana, though the most recognizable, hasn’t been the only prominent character to serve as Wonder Woman. Introduced in 1973, Nubia also takes up the mantle – and is also DC’s first Black female superhero. Though she briefly disappeared from the comics, upon her return, Nubia has come to helm several of her own publications.

She seems like a likely inclusion in Wonder Woman 3 and/or The Amazons, with her even serving as a main protagonist alongside Connie Nielsen’s Hippolyta in the latter. The series could even showcase Nubia’s rise to Queen of Themyscira.

Giganta

Giganta holds Steve and Diana hostage in DC comics

Giganta is one of Wonder Woman’s most popular villains, which comes as no surprise since she’s been around in the comics nearly as long as Wonder Woman. She has the ability to change size, becoming a giantess with incredible strength and durability – thus making her a particularly challenging enemy for Wonder Woman to tackle.

Despite her history in the comics, however, Giganta hasn’t appeared in live-action since the 1960s Wonder Woman series. She is a possible selection for the villain of Wonder Woman 3 and could even feature in whatever villainous team Lex Luthor is creating – if that ever comes to fruition.

Wonder Girl (Donna Troy)

Wonder Woman has long been assisted by several sidekicks, including the first Wonder Girl, Donna Troy. She was actually created to kill Wonder Woman by the Amazonian sorcerer, Deniroe, but those plans were thwarted and she became one of the heroes’ staunchest allies.

She’s also commonly depicted as a founder and member of the Teen Titans, as shown in Titans. She could be coming to the DCEU soon, possibly played by Rachel Zegler, whose been secretive about her role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Zegler’s also teased that Wonder Woman could appear in the film, so this might set her up before becoming Wonder Girl.

Circe

Wonder Woman has faced off with numerous prominent characters from Greek mythology, like Ares in Wonder Woman. Another classic villain is Circe, who would make a great antagonist for Wonder Woman 3 or The Amazons. Though not an actual goddess, Circe gains magical powers, and she's one of the strongest magic users in DC comics.

Like her origins in mythology, she controls an army of ani-men – men she’s transformed into dangerous animal hybrids. Alternatively, Circe could be a potential antagonist for the Justice League Dark series supposedly in development for HBO Max.

Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark)

Succeeding Donna Troy as Wonder Girl is Cassie Sandsmark. She was initially introduced as Wonder Woman’s half-sister, also being a daughter of Zeus, but this was later retconned to her now being his granddaughter. Zeus is dead in the DCEU, killed by Ares, yet this change relieves Cassie’s introduction from being contingent on his future inclusion.

While any DCEU project would likely feature Donna Troy first, Cassie could definitely be featured further down the line. Like many a sidekick and teenage hero, she is associated with Teen Titans and Young Justice, as a founding member of the latter – so if either team comes to the DCEU, Cassie might have her way in.

Jason

Jason, Wonder Woman's twin brother in DC comics

Given her godly parentage, Wonder Woman has many siblings, including at the time of her introduction, Nubia, her long-lost twin. That was altered in later issues, with a twin brother Jason being introduced instead. As men are prohibited on Themysira, he was sent away upon his birth. When Jason learned the truth of his heritage, he became jealous of his sister, corrupted by Darkseid’s daughter Grail.

He overcomes this and becomes a vital ally to his sister. Importantly, Jason is one of many LGBTQ+ heroes, himself bisexual like his sister – something the DCEU has yet to explicitly acknowledge about Wonder Woman. It would be interesting to see how his introduction would shake up Diana since she is framed as an only child in the franchise.

Artemis of Bana-Mighdall

Artemis of Bana-Mighdall - DC Comics

Not to be confused with the goddess Artemis – who was shown fighting Darkseid along with Zeus and Ares in Zack Snyder’s Justice League – Artemis of Bana-Mighdall is an Amazonian hero. She is part of a splinter group who joined man’s world and settled down in Egypt. The Amazons could feature the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall who, like in the comics, temporarily wage war on their Themysciran contemporaries as manipulated by Circe.

Artemis, specifically, has been a common Wonder Woman supporting character and has even taken up the mantle herself. She has a different fighting style from Wonder Woman, relying on different weapons like the legendary Bow of Ra, so she’d make for an interesting foil to the legendary hero.

Veronica Cale

With Wonder Woman 3 likely set in the modern era, it could draw on one of her more unique villains for her impressive rogues' gallery. Veronica Cale is like Wonder Woman’s Lex Luthor – a brilliant and maniacal businesswoman who deeply resents and envies the hero's power and popularity.

Her inclusion in the DCEU would likely come in her creating a team to take down and supplant Wonder Woman, Godwatch. A story like this could really show off several different members of Wonder Woman’s villain catalog, such as Silver Swan, Doctor Cyber, and/or Giganta to name a few.

Silver Swan

Silver Swan perched on a rooftop in Wonder Woman comics

Whether on her own or as part of a team, Silver Swan could be one of the next Wonder Woman villains. Three people have become the villain Silver Swan, inspired by the fairy tale of the ugly duckling. Currently, Vanessa Kapatelis operates as the villain, though she was first Wonder Woman’s friend. She is driven mad after her mother’s death and becomes a villain characterized by her cybernetic enhancements and sonic blasts.

However, her particular connection with Wonder Woman and possible affiliation with Veronica Cale might just be too similar to that of Barbara Minerva and Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman: 1984. Nevertheless, that doesn’t necessarily limit the opportunity to see Silver Swan sometime in the future.

Wonder Girl (Yara Flor)

Yara Flor Wonder Woman in her costume in Future State

One of Wonder Woman’s newest allies, like Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, is an Amazonian, though not from Themyscira. Yara Flor is an Amazonian of the Amazon who becomes the third Wonder Girl and is shown to succeed Diana as Wonder Woman in the future. While Wonder Woman uses the legendary Lasso of Truth, Yara has the Golden Boleadoras, which might be more powerful than the Lasso according to creator Joëlle Jones.

Given her recent introduction in 2021, it is not likely to see Yara anytime soon in the DCEU. However, if The Amazons chooses to showcase the offshoot tribe from Bana-Mighdall it could also feature the Amazonians of the Amazon, and Yara Flor with them.
