Going up against a vast array of dangerous enemies and monsters is a very normal occurrence throughout the course of Valheim. There are many different kinds of wild animals, disturbing monsters who lurk in the trees, and even monstrous bosses that the player will need to summon to progress in the story. Players will need to know how to avoid their attacks as well be able to dish damage right back to them if they hope to survive.
The best way to make this happen is by bringing some of the best weapons available to a fight. The issue here though is that most of these weapons will be pretty difficult for the player to come by, and will require them to put in a sizable amount of work to acquire them. This is well worth it though as many of these weapons are incredibly powerful. This guide shows players what the best weapons in the game are and how they can acquire them.
Valheim - The Best Weapons in the Game
Abyssal Harpoon - This is an excellent weapon for any player to have in their inventory for several reasons. In order to acquire it players will first need to have a level four workbench to even be able to craft it. They will then need to construct a boat and travel out into the ocean until they come across a Kraken. From here they will be able to mine Chitin from the creature, which will give them the recipe for the Harpoon. Players will need 30 pieces of Chitin, eight pieces of Fine Wood, and three Leather Scraps. This weapon is very strong, but it also has a special ability. It will stick into any enemy it is thrown at and reduce their speed as long as it is stuck to them.
Abyssal Razor - This accompaniment to the Harpoon is one of the best weapons in the game for those who want to sneak around and take out their enemies stealthily. Once again players will require a level four workbench before they are able to craft it and then they will need to take their boat back out on the ocean to get themselves more Chitin. This time around the player will only need 20 pieces of Chitin, four pieces of Fine Wood, and two Leather Scraps to construct the weapon. For their trouble though they will obtain the knife with the highest damage output in the game, and one that does a ridiculous amount of damage to unaware enemies. All they have to do is sneak up behind someone and attack, and more than likely that foe will go down in one hit.
Porcupine - The Porcupine is an incredibly deadly melee weapon, but will require players to get their hands on several high-quality items before they are able to craft it. The first thing that they will need to do is upgrade that workbench to level four, but then also invest in the Spinning Wheel as soon as they possibly can. This will allow players to craft Linen Thread, which is necessary for this weapon and many others. Players will also need to get their hands on several Needles, which are only acquired by killing Deathsquitos. Altogether the player will need five pieces of Fine Wood, 20 Iron Bars, five Needles, as well as ten Linen Threads. This weapon will be able to dish out massive amounts of both blunt and piercing damage.
Frostner - This weapon may not be as strong as some of the others, but it does have an ability that makes it perfect for using against different enemies. Frostner's knockback power stat is one of the highest in the game and the highest out of one-handed weapons. This makes it ideal for keeping groups of enemies at bay. Players will first need to upgrade their workbench to level three, and then they will need to go on a hunt for several rare resources. For one they will need to put together some money so that they can purchase some Ymir Flesh from Haldor. They will also need to bring down drakes to acquire some Freeze Glands. Altogether the player will need ten pieces of Ancient Bark, 30 pieces of silver, five Ymir Flesh, and five Freeze Glands to craft this weapon.
Serpent Scale Shield - A shield may not be a weapon in the truest sense of the word, but pairing a solid shield with a one-handed weapon can turn a player into an absolute killing machine. This is why players should invest in the Serpent Scale Shield as soon as they possibly can. First, they will need to get their Workbench up to level three, and once that is down they will need to track down a slightly rare resource: Serpent Scales. These Scales can only be acquired by traveling across the ocean and taking down any Serpents that the player comes across, which is a very dangerous thing to do. Players will need to get their hands on eight Serpent Scales, ten Fine Wood, and ten Iron Bars. Once this is done that can craft their new shield.
Draugr Fang - Attacking enemies up close isn't always the best option available to players, so sometimes they will want to carry a bow around with them. Without a doubt, the Draugr Fang is the best bow at the player's disposal. In order to get their hands on this weapon though players will need to get their hands on some Guck. This can be done by tracking down a Gucksack inside the Swamp area and mining it with a pickaxe. Players can then combine ten Guck, 20 Silver Bars, two Deer Hide, and ten pieces of Ancient Bark to craft this weapon.
Needle Arrows - While these arrows themselves aren't technically the weapon that players will be using, using a great bow is kind of wasted if the player doesn't have good arrows to go with them. These arrows won't deal any special kind of damage against enemies, but they do deal a pretty high amount of it and they are also pretty easy to craft if the player knows what they are doing. The most important resource to acquire for these arrows are Needles, which can only be gotten by bringing down Deathsquitos. Players will need four Needles and two Feathers in order to craft a set of twenty Needle Arrows.
Stagbreaker - Out of all of the weapons available to players in Valheim, it is hard to deny that Stagbreaker is the best one in the game right now. This two-handed blunt weapon is capable of a massive amount of damage, it has a very high knockback stat, and even has a special ability. This weapon is very easy to craft as it only requires players have five Deer Trophies, 20 Core Wood, and two Leather Scraps, which all tend to be pretty easy resources to acquire. Players will most likely be able to get this weapon before they even go up against the first boss. It is an excellent weapon to have because it has an AOE effect when used that can harm all enemies in the immediate area.
