Orbs of Power are a staple of Destiny 2 and are something every Guardian should learn how to generate. These glowing items sometimes drop from killing enemies and grant players energy for their Super. Generating Orbs of Power is essential for efficient gameplay and benefits the entire Fireteam, especially in tense situations.

Before The Witch Queen expansion, players were able to easily produce this resource. Kills with any Masterworked weapon would generate Orbs of Power. Certain Mods, such as Protective Light, were incredibly strong as well. Players could equip Taking Charge, which made Guardians become Charged with Light from picking up Orbs of Power. Protective Light gave a 50% damage reduction whenever shields were fully depleted, consuming the Charged with Light stacks. Bungie changed this meta in Destiny 2's Season of The Risen, by not only nerfing the Mod's damage reduction but also altering how Orbs of Power are generated.

Masterwork weapons no longer generate Orbs of Power in Destiny 2. Instead, players will need to equip specific Mods that serve a similar purpose. While creating this resource may not be as easy as before, it is still vital for Guardians. Just a few Orbs of Power can be the difference to having a Super ready for the DPS phase in a Boss encounter. Additionally, there are a handful of useful Mods that require players to pick up an Orb.

How To Generate (& Use) Orbs Of Power

Destiny 2 Thundercrash

Guardians naturally create Orbs of Power upon activating their Super and whenever they get kills with this ability. As mentioned previously, there are Mods that will generate this valuable resource for the Fireteam. There is also one Fragment from the Void, Solar, and Arc 3.0 subclasses in Destiny 2 that will create Orbs. Below are all the Mods that currently generate Orbs of Power:

Many of these Mods have been replaced with the addition of Elemental Wells. They serve a similar purpose to Orbs of Power, but do not inherently grant Super energy. When collected, Elemental Wells naturally replenish the ability with the least energy. Taking Charge is still one of the best ways to become Charged with Light. Recuperation is also commonly used to grab a more health in a pinch. The importance of generating Orbs of Power can not be overstated. There should always be at least one person on a Fireteam creating this invaluable resource in Destiny 2.
