DC fans subscribed to HBO Max are going to be spoiled in the future; not only is James Gunn's The Suicide Squad premiering on there but other DC projects will as well. This includes the recently announced Batgirl movie which is said to be an HBO Max exclusive.

Barbara Gordon AKA Batgirl has become a fan-favorite in the DC world. Fans have been wanting her own spin-off for quite some time. With a movie, there are a plethora of potential villains to choose from. Whether it's villains from her own rogue gallery or perhaps a villain from Batman's roster that the movies have lacked.

Maxie Zeus

Maxie Zeus On Harley Quinn

A strange villain, Maximillian Zeus was a Greek history teacher who gradually lost his mind; a result of the death of his wife. Believing himself to be the real Zeus Of Olympus, he becomes a criminal mastermind. Maxie Zeus is a cunning man who uses his intelligence to rise to the top of Gotham's underworld.

Maxie Zeus is a villain rarely ever seen in Batman stories. However, every time he appears, he leaves quite an impact. He's a unique villain that would provide a just as unique experience for audiences.

The Joker

Jared Leto as the Joker

Yes, the Joker is very much overused when it comes to DC villains; especially in the movies, having been played by a multitude of actors in the last thirty years alone. So while it would make sense to skip him altogether, Joker does play a big part in Barbara Gordon's story.

It was the Joker who paralyzed her from the waist down. Barbara deals with a lot of psychological trauma because of Joker. If the Batgirl movie is about Barbara's return to the cowl, it's not illogical to think she would go after Joker.

Mr. Freeze

Mr. Freeze in the Batman: Arkham Origins DLC, Cold, Cold Heart

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Mr. Freeze is in dire need of a proper reboot. The character got his big-screen debut with 1997's Batman & Robin and it is infamously terrible. Freeze then resurged on Fox's Gotham to divided opinions.

The tragic story of Mr. Freeze has become iconic since his reinvention in Batman: The Animated Series. With the right actor, script, and special effects; Mr. Freeze has the potential to be ranked up there with Josh Brolin's Thanos in terms of villains.

Firefly

Firefly From Batman V Superman Prequel Comic

With the new DC Multiverse, it's unclear as to which continuity Batgirl will take place in. If it's the DC Extended Universe, there is a canon Batman villain who has not appeared in the films: Firefly. Yes, Garfield Lynns AKA Firefly, a pyrotechnic turned pyromaniac with a jetpack.

Building up the hype for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, there were prequel comics. In Batman's prequel comic, Batman takes down Firefly in a small adventure. If the comics are canon, Firefly deserves to return in live-action form.

Grotesque

Batgirl kicking Grotesque in the face in DC comics.

The moniker of Grotesque is worn by two people in the comics. Grotesque is a crime-lord who has the ability to absorb and redistribute electricity. He was quite the adversary for Batgirl in the comics that nearly killed her.

The other Grotesque is actually the killer of the original Grotesque who uses the alias to hunt down and murder Gotham City's elite. Both versions would provide a darker yet fascinating new villain for the big-screen. Grounded enough to hook audiences then surprise them with his powers.

Killer Moth

Killer Moth hovering in the air from Batman: Bad Blood

Even from just the name alone, it's easy to see why Killer Moth was considered a joke. However, in a similar case as Mr. Freeze, Killer Moth would later be rebooted to be a darker and menacing threat. He now utilizes gadgets and hand-to-hand combat; he's also depicted as a much more violent character than before.

In more recent comics, Killer Moth actually gets his own army made up of other villains. So perhaps Killer Mouth is just in need of the right movie to show his capabilities.

The Ventriloquist

The Ventriloquist With Her Doll Ferdie

Another villain name used by multiple people. There's the more famous one with Arnold Wesker whom Batman has faced off against in the past. However, Batgirl has her own distinct version of the character with Shauna Belzer.

Shauna lost her mind at a young age, causing her to kill her own brother out of jealousy. She has telepathic abilities and proves to be a villain that is both powerful and terrifying. Even the doll she wields is named after her dead brother.  If James Wan is ever offered to direct, this villain is right up his alley.

Velvet Tiger

Velvet Tiger Taunting Batgirl

If one is expecting a wannabe Catwoman, they are sorely mistaking. Velvet Tiger is a ruthless criminal with the ability to move forward in time, giving the illusion of super-speed. This ability combined with her mastery of extortion gives her an edge over Batgirl.

It also allowed her to amass great power in the underworld. Having only be rebooted in 2015, Velvet Tiger has become a perfect rival villain for Barbara. This makes her ideal for the Batgirl movie.

James Gordon Jr.

Batgirl Battling James Gordon Jr

One of the most disturbing DC villains of all time. James Gordon Jr. is the brother of Barbara who just so happens to be a sociopath. With zero empathy for others, he became a murderous psychopath that would make Buffalo Bill look tame.

In a shocking twist, it was revealed that James Gordon Jr. played a part in her paralyzation with Joker. Playing into Barbara's trauma mentioned prior, James Gordon Jr. would be a fittingly dark and twisted villain for her to overcome.

The Calculator

Batgirl Confronting The Calculator

Barbara may be a fearsome vigilante but during her time as Oracle, she proved to be just as much of a hero. However, she also made an enemy with a computer whizz known as The Calculator. Her existence made him became an Oracle-like figure for many supervillains across the DC universe.

Rather than a physical threat, The Calculator would make for a more psychological threat. Barbara has to use her brains and brawns to stop his cyberterrorist actions a la Live Free or Die Hard.
