The Barbie films carry many memorable stories and evoke childhood nostalgia for audiences. Barbie played several memorable roles as Rapunzel, Odette, Annika, and more, and in each story, naturally she had to overcome a heinous villain to save the day and follow her dreams, along with the help of some friends along the way.

Some villains, like Fungus Maximus, are memorable for their appearances, and others, like Preminger, are memorable because of their villain songs and personalities. Whatever the reason, the Barbie films produced a wide array of villains, all with their different looks, motivations, lines, and of course, cruel and villainous natures.

Fungus Maximus (Barbie Fairytopia Films)

Fungus Maximus, also called Max, was Laverna's assistant. If anything, his appearance is what makes him stand out among the villains in the Barbie franchise. He's aptly named, and has an evil personality to match.

He's very supportive of Laverna, and even threatened to destroy Mermaidia by pouring poison into the water if Nalu refused to take him to retrieve the immunity berry for Laverna. Max isn't necessarily the brightest either; for instance, Nalu managed to trick him into going in circles several times while looking for the berry to stall him!

Nick And Nack (Barbie As The Princess And The Pauper)

Nick and Nack were Preminger's henchmen. The two made quite a comedic pair, as they weren't necessarily the brightest but tried to do right by Preminger. Even when they lost Anneliese, they weakly tried to cover it up by having Nick pose as the princess.

Naturally, Preminger saw through this ruse within seconds. The two were nothing if not loyal, but they weren't always the most adept henchmen; still, their appearance was an unforgettable one.

Odile (Barbie Of Swan Lake)

Odile loved presents and evil plans, and her father Rothbart was the main villain in Barbie of Swan Lake. Odile was harmless in comparison; she ordered her father around and he gave her everything she wanted, which in turn made her spoiled and ungrateful.

Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice on Friends, lends her voice to Odile, and like with her famous Friends character, she gave Odile a high nasally voice and accompanying laugh which suited the young villainess perfectly. Odile didn't meet a happy ending, but she remains a memorable villain in the Barbie films, both for her voice and her unique fashion choices.

Wenlock (Barbie And The Magic Of Pegasus)

Wenlock caused havoc for Brietta, Annika and their parents. Wenlock had his sights set on Brietta for a wife, and when she refused, he turned her into a pegasus. Years later, when Annika refused, he turned everyone she cared about to stone and threatened to leave them that way if she didn't change her mind.

Wenlock doesn't like it when he's refused anything, as he feels he deserves everything, and he's certainly let his power get to his head. He also treats his wives horribly, rendering them his servants and then moving on to the next wife when he decides it's time. His self-indulgent personality and treatment of his wives makes him stand out, and not in a good way.

Queen Ariana (Barbie As The Island Princess)

Queen Ariana may be focused, but it stems from a lifelong grudge consisting of hatred and anger. Wanting revenge on the King and Queen of Appallonia, she schemes to have her daughter wed their son, so she in turn can take their place. She is brutal, especially to her daughter, whom she doesn't appear to care much for as she only uses her to get what she wants, and has no concern for her daughter's needs or wants.

She does everything she can to break up Ro and Prince Antonio, and even tried to poison the animals to get her way. Luckily, her plans were thwarted, and she met a suiting end by falling into the mud alongside the pigs there, which are the animals she hates the most as they remind her of the home she ran away from.

Duchess Rowena (Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses)

Duchess Rowena was brought to the kingdom by King Randolph to teach his daughters about etiquette, but it was she who could've used some lessons. She was mean, greedy, and brutal to the girls, teaching them anything but etiquette.

Voiced by Schitt's Creek's Catherine O'Hara, Rowena failed to learn her lesson before it was too late, and wound up dancing off into the night, forever, when she had intended it to be Genevieve that would be forced to dance forevermore.

Gothel (Barbie As Rapunzel)

Not unlike the Gothel audiences know in Tangledthe Gothel of Barbie as Rapunzel is also cruel-hearted, manipulative, and vengeful. Angry that Wilhelm didn't return her feelings for him, Gothel later kidnaps his daughter, Rapunzel, and forces her to do many chores for her, all the while telling Rapunzel the massive lie that she had found her abandoned.

She tells many lies and has no trouble causing problems for anyone that has wronged her. Still, she gets the perfect ending when she herself is trapped in a tower that won't release her because of the many lies she has told over the years.

Rothbart (Barbie Of Swan Lake)

Rothbart wasn't happy when he was passed over for the role of ruling the Enchanted Forest, and he stormed out. When he returned, it was to take the forest piece by piece with force, as he had acquired dark powers and a daughter in his time away.

He threatens the ruler of the Enchanted Forest - his cousin - quite frequently and even turned the forest's fairies and elves into animals. He was certainly evil, as he had planned on using Prince Daniel to kill Odette so he could acquire the magic crystal. He was ruthless, creepy, and certainly scary; his look alone screams villain, and his appearance was a memorable one.

Laverna (Barbie Fairytopia Films)

Laverna certainly had a dark outlook on the world and the residence to prove it. She was nothing like her twin sister the Enchantress, and she evilly tricked this sister into believing that she wanted to make peace, only to poison her. Laverna then tracked down the guardians of Fairytopia, intending to take all the powers from their necklaces for herself.

She didn't appreciate her henchmen, she was willing to poison all of Fairytopia, and she was certainly power-hungry. She had to learn the hard way more than once, especially when, in Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia, she unknowingly ate a berry that revealed her true self and subsequently turned her into a toad!

Preminger (Barbie As The Princess And The Pauper)

With a Preminger's memorable hairstyle and catchy villain song, "How Can I Refuse?", he is definitely a standout villain in the Barbie films. A royal advisor to Queen Genevieve, Preminger schemes and plots, all the while stealing gold from the kingdom, to one day become royalty. At first, he sets his sights on Princess Anneliese, and devises a wretched plan to kidnap her to prevent her from marrying a prince.

Preminger was greedy, but also had comedic moments in the film, especially when he was around his two henchmen, Nick and Nack. He's also got a villainous sidekick in his pet poodle, Midas, that taunts Anneliese's and Erika's cats to boot.
