Back in 2018, Daredevil fans had every reason to frown after the Netflix series about the character was canceled, Luckily, that cancelation wasn’t the end of the New York hero’s time in the MCU. After a cameo in Spider-Man; No Way Home, Daredevil is confirmed to appear in an episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Most importantly, a revival series titled Daredevil: Born Again is said to be in development.

Despite only making his live-action debut at the turn of the century, the vigilante has dominating Marvel video games since the ‘90s. Daredevil has appeared as a playable or storyline-related character in numerous mobile, PC, and console games. Among them, some are not only more enjoyable to gamers but also portray the character much better.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Web Of Fire (1996)

Spider-Man attempts to prevent members of HYDRA and the New Enforcers from placing New York City under an electrical plasma grid. Daredevil offers him assistance in the Blue Sky Software game.

Peter Parker’s brief team-up with Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and those that loved seeing the two as buddies are guaranteed to have a blast while playing the game. However, getting Daredevil as a partner doesn’t come easy since Spider-Man has to rescue him first. But once that has been achieved, the mission becomes a lot more manageable. The game is stylish too, with the plot being explained through newspaper-shaped cut scenes and the "options menu" providing all the information the player means to know. Moroever, the storyline aspect is decent, as even after the characters die, players can choose to know the fate of New York under HYDRA’s rule.

Daredevil (2003)

The Game Boy Advance game is a tie-in to the live-action movie of the same name. In it, Daredevil fights a couple of B-level villains before facing the final boss, Kingpin.

Though the game is based on what is considered one of the worst superhero movies, it’s way more enjoyable. Events are comic accurate and the limited number of villains are a lot harder to defeat. By mastering a variety of controls, players are also able to pull off plenty of unique character fighting moves that the movie chose to ignore.

Marvel Nemesis: Rise Of The Imperfects (2005)

On Earth-50701, Marvel heroes team up to fight a new group of supervillains known as The Imperfects. Daredevil starts out as a mind-controlled villain in the Electronic Arts (EA) game before being defeated and freed by Elektra.

The inclusion of a whole new team of villains breaks the monotony and so does the use of a section of a multiverse that’s rarely explored. Though the plot involves an Avengers-like team-up, Daredevil has greater influence since it’s through him that the motivations of The Imperfects becomes clear. Overall, players get to enjoy the usual moves of their favorite characters with the option of easily switching between one hero to another. And as is the case with most EA games, Rise Of The Imperfects was made available in all types of consoles.

Spider-Man (2000)

Spider-Man attempts to clear his name after being framed as a criminal by a doppelganger. Daredevil appears in the Neversoft-produced video game as one of the characters helping Spider-Man clear his name.

Fans will notice some similarities between this particular Daredevil arc and the one in Spider-Man: No Way Home where he also attempts to help the web-slinger clear his name. Though Daredevil isn’t a playable character in the game, he has a couple of unforgettable scenes, including one where he plays cards with Spider-Man ad Captain America and another where he goes through game notes. Overall the game is a treat for Marvel fans as it includes most of the greatest Spider-Man villains and is narrated by Stan Lee. Even better is that the final boss is a new game-exclusive villain known as Monster-Ock (Doctor Octopus merged with Carnage).

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 (2009)

The Vicarious Visions game follows the “Civil War” storyline, pitting those that support the Superhero Registration Act against those who don’t. Daredevil is on the pro-registration side and is one of 30 playable characters.

By choosing to focus on one of the most important Marvel events, the game feels almost cinematic in scope. The “Civil War” storyline on this occasion is arguably more fascinating than the MCU one because of the fates of different characters. For example, Iron Man becomes the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director and Nick Fury disappears. The gameplay is satisfying too because heroes are pitted against each other rather than against villains. And given how good a fighter Daredevil is, fighting his buddies is o major challenge, so long as the player knows the right moves to make. Fans also get to enjoy the fusion feature, which allows two characters to merge moves or powers for a few seconds.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds (2011)

Marvel characters fight Capcom characters in tag-team matchups. In the game, both normal and zombie versions of Daredevil appear in the game.

For some gamers, dialogue and complex plots are boring. Luckily, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 discards all that and chooses to focus on the fights. And since a Marvel game about fighting would feel incomplete without Matt Murdock, the inclusion of two versions result in greater satisfaction for fans of the character. The fights don’t get to end too soon either since players can substitute a character that’s becoming weak for another that’s still in good health.

Marvel Strike Force (2018)

The FoxNext game for Android, iOS, and iPadOS sees of S.T.R.I.K.E. assemble teams to deal with Ultimus’ invading forces. Daredevil appears as a member of The Defenders as well as Shadowlands.

With $300 million in revenue and a "Mobile Game of the Year" accolade at the SXSW Gaming Awards (via The Verge), it’s hard to dispute Marvel Strike Force’s status as a one of a kind video game. Live-action fans have an even better reason to like it as it’s also the only game where the Daredevil costume is series-accurate. And that’s because the game was made shortly after the Netflix series started airing.

Marvel Contest Of Champions (2014)

The Kabam for Android and IOS game is adapted from the “Contest of Champions” comic series. In it, over 207 playable Marvel heroes face each other in fights, with Daredevil among them.

Questions like “Who would win in a fight between Spider-Man and Daredevil?” are often complex when tackled from an analysis perspective but here, gamers can find out for themselves. The fact that the characters can’t move from one place to the other isn’t a problem since players can easily choose a location of their choosing? Hoping to see Black Widow and Captain Marvel fight in Wakanda? No problem. MCU fans will also be quick to notice how the premise mirrors that of Thor: Ragnarok, where there are gladiatorial battles too.

Marvel Heroes (2015)

In the Gazillion Entertainment game, Marvel heroes try to defeat Doctor Doom after he acquires the Cosmic Cube. Daredevil is one of the many options for players to choose from.

Though not officially stated so, Marvel Heroes feels like its part of the “What If?” This is because players can purchase whole new skills for their favorite heroes using the credits they ears. What if Daredevil could shoot webs like Spider-Man? It’s all possible if a player performs well enough. As for the gameplay, the standout feature is the raid mode, which enable several heroes to assemble and attack at once, hence making it easier to defeat some of the most powerful Marvel villains.

Lego Marvel Superheroes (2013)

Marvel heroes team up to stop Doctor Doom and Loki from conquering the world. Daredevil is one of the 180 playable characters.

The major thing fans will love about the game is the number of options they are presented with. There are 26 missions in total (15 main ones and 11 side ones). Whether one wishes to keep Daredevil in New York or take him on a whole new adventure, they can do so. Even better is that the heroes are modeled after the actors that play them in the MCU.
