Based on the classic Archie Comics, Riverdale is the perfect modern-day show with a retro feel. While it does have plenty of other themes mixed in—romance, drama, and music—the mystery in this will keep viewers hooked.

The show follows Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica as they navigate the town of Riverdale and its many oddities. They are faced will all kinds of adversities like a masked killer, a cult that uses a D&D style board game to lure people in,  mafias with hidden agendas, and some of the biggest scandals. The four attempt to have normal teenage lives while also unraveling the town's secrets and its diverse community. This can be found available to watch on Netflix.

One Of Us Is Lying

One of Us Is Lying is a mystery based on a novel by Karen M. McManus, where four teens of varying backgrounds and personalities attempt to hide their own secrets while figuring out who killed one of their classmates. It's available on Netflix in select countries, but it is currently only available on Peacock in the US.

The show focuses on four very different main characters, Cooper, Bronwyn, Addy, and Nate, who struggle with their own individual issues and attempt to keep their secrets hidden. However, as their secrets risked being exposed by the school gossip, Simon, they all shockingly end up in detention with him. When he suddenly dies from an allergic reaction, the four become the main suspects of the case—but were any of them actually behind it?

13 Reasons Why

13 Reasons Why follows the main character Clay tries to cope with the loss of his friend and crush, Hannah, who has taken her own life. While confused and hurt, Clay and 12 other classmates attempt to figure out why Hannah would do such a thing, and her parting gift of tapes might help them do that.

13 Reasons Why is a real and tragic show that doesn't refrain from showing the cruelties of high school and the mistreatment there. When Clay receives a tape from Hannah after her death, claiming he was one of the reasons, his life is sent into a spiral. He is determined to figure out the meaning behind Hannah's death and bring justice to those who mistreated her.  It is available to watch on Netflix, but viewer discretion is advised due to its mature content.

Cruel Summer

When Kate shows up out of the blue again, she accuses Jeanette of witnessing her abduction and not reporting it. The series takes place over the course of three years and will leave fans with some burning questions.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

I Know What You Did Last Summer is a modern take on the classic 1997 slasher film of the same title. While it is more a mystery now than a slasher, it still has thrilling and spooky themes that the original captured. Viewers can find it available to stream on Prime Video.

While there is plenty of difference between the classic movie and this new series, it still follows a group of friends in the wake of a fatal accident they were involved in, which has led to them being stalked by a mysterious killer who happens to know exactly what went down that night.
