G.B.F., which stands for "Gay Best Friend," is a teen comedy that aired in 2013. It followed the lives of two best friends: Tanner, who is in the closet, and Brent, who is desperate for popularity. When the whole school and the most popular girls from very different cliques become aware that Tanner is gay, they take him under their wing. They begin to make the gay best friend trope a new trend, and Tanner becomes too involved, losing his friends in the process.

This comedy was a fun twist on many tropes in teen movies. It highlighted many stereotypes that were debunked towards the end of the film and focused on what really matters inside. It had many heartfelt moments while also providing many hilarious quotes.

Eighth Grade highlights some of the most uncomfortable moments of growing up, which is how it manages to be funny. It's nostalgic and brilliant, without steering off into typical cliches. It still manages to be an overall good film to enjoy.
