DC Comics' flagship characters, such as Superman, have defined the company as offering stories of universal appeal. However, every now and then characters and stories have overly ridiculous moments. Moments that have become memes due to the dated nature of the material of the past. Superman is one of the most notable examples, as an assortment of memes came from the Silver Age.

Why Stop Luthor?

Superman talking to possibly Lana Lang on whatever happened to Luthor

Lex Luthor is often defined as Superman's arch-nemesis. Arguably the only mortal man who stands against Superman's godlike abilities. Although in spite of this, the character has been defined by his selfishness. Acting out as a supervillain can cause serious trouble to the Man Of Steel.

But in this meme, Superman is purposely taking the character out of his list of priorities, placing anti-gravity shoes well above the supervillain causing havoc in space.

The Internet Is More Dangerous Than Your Typical Supervillain

Due to the internet becoming more prevalent over the years, benefits have come out of it. From a new swarm of data to knowledge being produced in a faster way. However, the internet is also filled with cruelty and despair that can lead to people hating it. Superman shows a fear of it. This is unusual as he has faced threats more dangerous from a physical level.

A Gift Made To Be Destroyed

Silver Age Superman using his heat vision on Jimmy Olsen's gift

During the Silver Age, Superman's personality wasn't exactly how newer fans came to expect him. He is ruder and was more Superman than Clark Kent. One of the most infamous examples of these moments was when Superman used his heat vision on Jimmy Olsen's gift. Coldly staring at it as he is disappointed with what he received. This moment became prevalent in other forms of media such as Batman Brave And The Bold.

Superman Hates The Flash

Silver Age Superman punching the Flash in the jaw

Superman and the Flash have a friendly rivalry together. As the latter is deemed the fastest man alive, he raced with Superman who is fast in his own right. More often than not, they have a friendly relationship with one another. Yet in this older Superman cover, it comes out of nowhere when the Flash is punched in the face by Superman. One of the many times the character has gotten more dangerous towards his colleagues.

Role Reversal

Silver Age Krypto and Superboy with their roles reversed

One of the silliest issues within Superman's career is the event when Krypto and his younger self switched places. Krypto's earlier design helps to create a character that looks cute and goofy at the same time, while Superboys expressive portrayal as a dog is hilarious. This once again emphasizes the silliness that was a part of the era while also remaining an important centerpiece of the times.

Super Tears

In another image from the Silver Age of comics, here Jimmy Olsen is collecting the tears of Superman. Insulting the Man Of Steel as he creepily takes the super tears from his idol. In comparison to the previous image portraying the two, it could be argued that this is the character's revenge out of context. That being said, it's hilarious to think about especially in the context of the modern era, where many fans often get angry at pieces of media.

A World Without Superman

The infamous image of haters gonna hate unmodified is the possibility of Superman stopped saving people. Without his intervention, the world would crumble around him. Planes crashing onto the side of the building while innocents are getting shot.

When modified, it shows the character at his absolute worst. A selfish godlike being who treats the world like it is silly putty. Although out of character, it illustrates the funniest example of Superman being the biggest jerk in the DC Universe.

Awkward

Taking place during the Identity Crisis storyline, it illustrates Clark Kent as he is talking to his mother. Out of context, this is depressing and hilarious since there have been several memes of Batman's origins. But what makes this hilarious is the panel that shows Clark's face. It is priceless and goofy to the point of being uncanny.
