Superheroes have been dominating the big screen for decades, with the newest group being those in the recent release, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. From popular comics reimagined to entirely new storylines, the superhero trope is one of the most popular. But what seems to be becoming more popular are superhero family stories.

As seen in both WandaVision and Teen Titans, whole families of supers can be very popular with fans. While the family may not always be blood-related, some of the best and most well-known superhero families in the film industry are beloved by fans.

The Strongholds: Sky High (2005)

Having two of the universe's most well-known superheroes as your parents can be a lot of pressure. Especially when entering high school with no powers yet, which is exactly what Will Stronghold did in Sky High. While it took a while for him to get his powers, he ended up getting the powers of both of his parents.

Will stood strongly next to The Commander and Jetstream, and he even picked up some great backup on the way. While the Strongholds may not be the most well-known, they were fairly popular at the time, and fans of the movie are still holding on hope for a sequel to see what happened at Sky High after Will and his friends became heroes.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: TMNT (1987 - 1996)

The iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle brothers made their debut on television in 1987. The four turtles, named after Renaissance artists, have been shredding through the sewers of New York City for decades. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michaelangelo just might be the four most famous crime-fighting brothers of the century.

Even though other superhero shows are more popular recently, the original TMNT show is considered one of the best superhero cartoons that aren't DC or Marvel. Not only are the TMNT legendary, but they also have mad ninja skills that their sensei, Splinter, taught them. Splinter is also a mutant, but a rat, and he is known to have found the four brothers and raised them mostly on his own.

Teen Titans: (2003 - 2006)

Teen Titans

Teen Titans debuted on television almost 20 years ago. The misfit gang of supers working together began quickly capturing the attention and the hearts of fans around the world. For three long years, the show ran strong, but it came to a close at the end of 2006. Even though it ended the team was not forgotten.

The Teen Titans were based on the DC comics with the same name. Although not a family by blood, their bond was very strong and they always had each other's backs. Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven became legendary as fans all around the world cosplayed as them and begged for a return of the show. While the show didn't exactly get rebooted in its original form, Teen Titans Go! came out seven years later. It may be a little less serious than the original, but the superhero family is still kicking butt and living together in the Titans Tower.

The Asgardians: Thor (2011)

In the Thor movies, it is apparent that not only is family important to Asgardians, but at least for Thor's family, it's also a little complicated. Odin, Loki, and Thor are all gods of something, making them incredibly powerful in their own ways. Even Frigga, Thor's mother, is known to be powerful and has the powers of a god, although the MCU doesn't really touch on that.

This family of gods has become more popular as the MCU has grown. With each movie about Thor, it seems that he learns more and more about his family ties and how important they all are to his place in the universe, whether good or bad. Everyone knows that family can be difficult sometimes, but it can also be memorable and incredibly strong.

The Bat Family: Batman (1939 - )

Three years ago, the Bat-Family celebrated its 80th anniversary. Since 1939, Batman and his pieced together group of friends that ends up being like family entered fans' lives. Over the years, a wide variety of film adaptations have been made of the character and his story. From depictions like the newest film, The Batmanto the early 2000s show Batman Beyond, a show Reddit fans want to see revived, DC has been showing all the different ways Batman might fight to form a new family.

As one of the original superheroes, it is no secret that the Bat-Family has had the time to build up a rapport for themselves. Alfred, Robin, Cat Woman, and many others are famously known to join Batman and help him protect Gotham.

The Avengers (2012)

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johanssen), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Captain America (Chris Evans) stand ready to arrest Loki (Tom Hiddleston)

Over the last 14 years, the MCU has been adding more and more characters to the Avengers team. But the original Avengers team is one of the most iconic superhero teams of all time. While they aren't an actual blood-related family, they are pretty tight-knit.

Banding together to fight Loki and an alien race, the team of superheroes became legendary overnight. There is no doubt that this team is strong and can hold its own. As the MCU grew, the Russo brothers introduced some great new characters, but the originals still stood strong, making taking sides when the family split up in Captain America: Civil War even more heartbreaking.

Justice League: Justice League Unlimited (2004 - 2006)

Another legendary group of superheroes that just about anyone knows is the Justice League. While also not an official family, they always seem to band together to fight off the bad guys like one big family. The Justice League has a lineup of heroes that is tough to beat, and each member can easily represent a specific member of a family.

From the parents to the siblings to the aunts and uncles, they all are represented in the Justice League in one way or another. Besides their strength, powers, and family qualities, they are a group that most people recognize whether they follow comics or not.

Mystery Inc.: What's New Scoob-Doo (2003 - 2006)

Scooby Doo Gang and Mystery Machine

One group, that might as well be family, that is considered superheroes but not in the usual sense, is the Mystery Inc. This group consists of Velma, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and their trusty talking Great Dane named Scooby-Doo. They work together to solve mysteries, and while they may not have magical superpowers, their powers of deduction are top-tier.

To many of the people that they help, they are considered heroes, and they might just be the most relatable group of superheroes out there. There are a few odd things that happen to the crew, but they always find a way to get through it. Even though the show came out over 50 years ago, they are still running strong solving mysteries today.

Wanda & Vision: WandaVision (2021)

Wanda, Vision, and her two kids are the newest and potentially most powerful family of supers in the cinematic universe. While they only had a short life together in WandaVisionthey showed off just how strong they could be when working together. In fact, WandaVision set up a lot for the new Doctor Strange movie.

As a family of supers, they have a lot of potential, and a reunion of the four of them is something that was teased in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Although this family of superheroes is fairly new to the screen, they gained a lot of traction quickly, as fans are really hoping to see more.

The Parr Family: The Incredibles (2004)

The Incredibles in the Jungle

Easily the most iconic family of superheroes is the Parr family, also known as The Incredibles. The Parrs showed the upsides and the challenges of having to raise kids with powers in a society that wasn't accepting of supers. There were lots of moments that were relatable to parents raising kids, as well as kids who were learning to grow up, making the movie all the more loved.

The movie was so popular and the family so well-loved that when the sequel came out 14 years later, fans flocked to the theater to see it. They may not be the strongest superhero group, but they have the strongest bond and are by far the most iconic superhero family in the cinematic universe.
