While the start of a new year means the start of new and exciting things, it also means that some things must come to an end - including beloved television shows. Still, while seeing your favorite shows end is always sad, it's better than having them unexpectedly canceled, which often ends with major cliffhangers and fan frustrations.

2022 is hoping to bring an end to frustrating cancelations by announcing in advance the ending of several beloved shows. While this is sad news for fans, it does mean that these shows should end with proper endings that will make sense and give fans and their favorite characters the closure they need.

Better Call Saul (2015-2022)

Better Call Saul is headed into its sixth and final season which is set to premiere in early 2022. The series, which is a prequel to Breaking Badcenters on Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) before he becomes Walter White's ace attorney.

Saul has been just as successful as its predecessor receiving 21 Primetime Emmy Awards during its run. Season 6 promises to be an exciting one and is set to be the season with the most episodes which means there should be no cliff-hanger endings.

Better Things (2016-2022)

Better Things may have started as one of FX's most underrated comedy-dramas but it quickly has earned the praise it's deserved. First premiering in 2016, the series centers on Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon), a single mother and actress who is just trying to survive each day.

The series is headed into its fifth and final season which is set to premiere on February 28th. The final season promises to focus on Sam and three daughters as they all move into the next chapter of their respective lives.

Black-ish (2014-2022)

Blackish is arguably one of ABC's most successful sitcoms of the 2010s and 2020s. Created by Kenya Barris, the series centers on the upper-class Johnson family led by family patriarch Andre "Dre" (Anthony Anderson) and matriarch Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross). Unlike other ABC sitcoms, the series never strayed away from dealing with hard-hitting contemporary topics, especially those affecting Black communities in the United States.

The series has been so successful that it launched two spin-offs. Unfortunately, the Johnson's time is coming to an end in 2022 with a ten-episode eight and final season.

Grace And Frankie (2015-2022)

Grace and Frankie is one of Netflix's longest-running shows which is an impressive feat since the streaming giant tends to cancel most of its shows after a few seasons. The comedy series stars comedy genius Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda and Frankie and Grace, two frenemies who begin to bond after their husbands reveal they've been having a secret affair with each other for decades.

The comedy series has taken on many twists and turns over its seven-season run including the women starting their own business ventures, finding love, dealing with family drama, and ultimately discovering just how close friends they are. While part one of season 7 dropped in 2021, the remaining episodes will be released in 2022 after being postponed due to COVID.

Kevin Can F**k Himself (2021-2022)

Fresh off the success of Schitt's CreekAnnie Murphy landed her next staring role as disgruntled housewives Allison Devine-McRoberts in the groundbreaking hybrid dark comedy Kevin Can F**k HimselfThe series, which switches between multi-cam and single-cam set-ups, follows Alison as she tries to get out of her frustrating marriage and chase her own dreams.

The first season was released in June on AMC and was met with critical acclaim. It was quickly picked up for a second season, however, it was also revealed the second season would be its last.

Killing Eve (2018-2022)

Killing Eve is the joint venture between BBC and AMC which aired on BBC America starting in 2018. The British spy thriller, which is based on Luke Jennings' novel series, centers on Eve (Sandra Oh), a bored MI5 security officer who spends much of her time behind her desk. That is until she meets talented killer Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and is tasked with tracking her down.

The series broke several records during its first season and was quickly renewed thanks to the massive success in both the US and UK markets. The fourth and final season is set to air on February 27th.

Ozark (2017-2022)

Jason Bateman returned to the small screen in 2017 playing Martin "Marty" Byrde in the critically acclaimed drama series OzarkThe series centers on Marty and his family as they relocate to the Ozarks after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong leaving them on the run from a powerful Mexican drug lord.

Since its premiere in 2017, the series has earned 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and even led to several wins for both Bateman and Julie Garner. Season 4 is set to release on Netflix on January 2022 in the first of a two-part final season.

Queen Sugar (2016-2022)

Created by Ava DuVernay for the Oprah Winfrey Network, Queen Sugar has been wildly popular since its debut in 2016. The drama series centers on the estranged Bordelon siblings who must put their differences aside if they want to save their family's struggling sugar can farm.

The series has been praised for its racially processing storylines which highlight African-American society in all of its forms. The series was picked up for a 7th and final season before the 6th even premiere and is set to wrap up in mid to late 2022.

Search Party (2016-2022)

Seach Party first premiered on TBS in 2016 and was largely an underrated comedy. It picked up a notable fanbase when it moved to HBO Max for its third season in 2018. The satirical dark comedy thriller centers on an eccentric group of twentysomethings who set out to find out what happened to their former college acquaintance who has gone missing.

While each season strayed away from the actual search, the core elements of Search Party remained. Season 5 is set to drop on HBO Max on January 7th and should provide fans with the answers to all their burning questions.

This Is Us (2016-2022)

It's no secret that This Is Us quickly became the number 1 broadcast TV show of the 2010s when it premiered back in 2016. The series, which switches between the past, present, and future, follows the Pearson family in various stages of life as they navigate the changing world around them and their family.

The beloved family drama is set to come to an end in 2022 when the 6th and final season begins airing weekly on NBC starting January 4th. The writers have planned the ending since the beginning, so fans are hopeful that it meets all of their expectations.
