With the fourth outing of What We Do in the Shadows almost here and all of the teases for the new season only creating more anticipation amongst fans, it's almost a shame how quickly its short seasons seem to pass. Luckily, short and sweet comedies also make for the best binge-worthy shows.

For fans who can't wait to binge some top-tier comedy and need something short to fill that gap, Reddit has a ton of recommendations. With some of the highest acclaimed shows of recent years and others more undiscovered gems, there's something for every kind of comedy fan.

Letterkenny (Hulu)

A Canadian sitcom about a fictional rural Ontario community that has been ongoing since 2016, Letterkenny now has 10 seasons under its belt, and though that might sound like a lot of content, with most seasons only six episodes long, it's eminently bingeable. Redditor djvbmd explained just how powerful its appeal is, saying "A friend recommended it to me a month ago and I'm on my 5th or 6th binge-thru already!"

Given it's based on a YouTube series, it should be no surprise the show is fast-paced and efficient when it comes to delivering great jokes and that makes it hard not to keep watching. With all 10 seasons available in one place on Hulu in the U.S., it's clear why the show ends up being so easy to binge.

Trailer Park Boys (Netflix)

With a dozen seasons, 3 movies, a spin-off animated series, and more, getting through all of the Canadian mockumentary series in a day would not be possible. However, Redditor IttyBittyKitty420 suggests an approach to tackling Trailer Park Boys, explaining "The original 7 seasons are TV gold," and since "each episode is pretty self-contained ... it's good for binging at any pace."

With short episodes and short seasons, focusing on those first seven seasons of the show, which centers on three trailer park residents trying to dodge the law whilst committing various petty crimes, makes it possible to tackle in a day. Whilst anyone who loves those seasons is likely to enjoy the later ones as well, they aren't considered as necessary as the iconic original run.

The Good Place (Netflix)

A great show for fans of What We Do in the Shadows to binge whilst waiting for the new season, The Good Place is a show centered around a very exclusive utopian afterlife that the immoral central character feels she must have been sent to by mistake. Redditor AlienBlueManGroup suggests it for its great cast and points to Michael Schur's involvement as helping to guarantee it has "good writing and a good heart."

With four short seasons and 22-minute episodes, it's a show that can disappear surprisingly fast once it gets going, and, with some real plot twists, it's also compelling in a way not many comedies manage to be. Funny and thought-provoking, The Good Place is definitely one of the more interesting shows to binge.

Flowers (Netflix)

British shows have a reputation for incredibly short seasons that manage to pack everything a show needs in as concise a package as possible and that means there are plenty of less-known examples that are perfect for binging. One Redditor suggested Flowers, a show that stars Olivia Coleman and centers on an extremely dysfunctional family, and complimented its "pitch-black British humor".

In two 6-episode seasons, the show manages to pack in some great laughs and explore some serious themes, especially surrounding mental illness. Plenty of sitcoms include sad episodes but there's a darkness to Flowers that means it's not for the faint of heart, though those who can enjoy its uncomfortable approach to comedy will find it perfect to binge.

Flight Of The Conchords (HBO Max)

Jermaine and Bret in Flight of the Conchords

Redditor MoonMonsoon was concise in putting forward their choice for a comedy that can be tackled in a day, simply saying "Flight of the Conchords" as their recommendation. The HBO sitcom centers on the New Zealand musical duo of the same name as they try to find success in New York.

Quirky and unique, the show won awards before ending after only 2 seasons, and, whilst it deserved to go for longer, that means it's a perfect comedy package to watch in one or two sittings. Flight of the Conchords also has another appeal in that one of the duo is Jermaine Clement, who also went on to create the What We Do in the Shadows series.

Kim's Convenience (Netflix)

Although it's not possible to binge the entire 5 seasons of Kim's Convenience in a day, its half-hour episodes each with their own compelling storylines about the charming characters of the Korean Canadian Kim family make it easy for the viewer to end up watching far more than they intend to.

Redditor sunshinesway summed up why the show is such a popular choice, saying that it's simply a "Great show and so wholesome!" Some serious issues led to its untimely end and much of the cast has moved on to bigger things but its 5 seasons make it the perfect length to keep the viewer hooked all the way.

The IT Crowd (Netflix)

Roy, Moss and Jen on The IT Crowd

One of the best workplace comedies set in the three-person IT department of a large company, The IT Crowd is a British season with 25 episodes to enjoy. Redditor chucklesthepaul88 puts forward the show, saying it meets the criteria as it would "take about a day of binging" to get through the show completely.

With each episode generally being self-contained and often having a farcical plotline that puts its hilarious characters in completely absurd situations, it's a show that makes it easy to keep watching. It also has tons of memorable moments that stand out even if watched in one go, which has helped it secure a new audience on Netflix.

What We Do In The Shadows (Hulu)

Now is the perfect time for newcomers to the mockumentary series about oddball vampires in modern-day Staten Island to give it a try, as well as a great time for old fans to revisit the first three seasons, ahead of the upcoming fourth season. Redditor OlderAndCynical only had to put forward the title of the show, saying simply "What we do in the Shadows" for his suggestion to receive a ton of support.

Based on the Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement movie of the same name, the series was created for FX by Clement and stars a host of British and American talent in the central roles. With each season only 10 episodes long, the only downside of binging it is that the show seems to go by so fast, at least until the new season is released.

Derry Girls (Netflix)

Set in Northern Ireland during the final years of the "troubles," Derry Girls is an unexpectedly hilarious sitcom about five teenagers attending the same girls' Catholic secondary school. With the show coming to an end last year, it means there's only a painfully short three seasons to spend with the show's unique and memorable characters.

Redditor krpfine comments on a particularly strong point of Derry Girls, saying "This show cracks me up," as its simple and effective approach to comedy is what helps make it so watchable. With its addition to Netflix, there's no reason not to get hooked on one of the best comedies of recent years.

I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson (Netflix)

I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson

Although sitcom narratives are great for keeping viewers hooked in long term, the bite-size laughs offered by a sketch comedy format make it ideal for binging. It's for that reason that Redditor DocJupiter's question "May I interest you in 'I think you should leave'" garnered a ton of support from other users.

One of the best new sketch shows of recent years, I think You Should Leave perfectly utilizes Tim Robinson's offbeat sense of humor to expertly craft bizarre and hilarious situations for the viewer's enjoyment. With episodes not much longer than 15 minutes and only two six-episode seasons, it's a show that can easily be tackled in a day, and it was also renewed for a third season earlier this year, meaning it's a good time to give the unique show it a try.
