There were plenty of things that made New Girl a special sitcom, but the main one has to be its cast. From the main characters to their supporting players, everyone on the show gave exceptional performances in almost every scene.

When the pilot debuted, the likes of Zooey Deschanel and Damon Wayans Jr. had already started to make names for themselves in the acting world, and Megan Fox was a megastar prior to her entry into the show. But the rest of the main cast were relatively unknown before appearing on the sitcom. Since New Girl, though, they've all earned some significant acting roles. Yet, who's been involved in the best project in IMDb's opinion?

Hannah Simone (Cece): Loafy - 7.3

Originally, Cece was a supporting character who would occasionally pop up every now and then. However, as the episodes went by, her role continued to grow until she had solidified herself as one of the main characters - even having arguably the show's best romance with Schmidt. Hannah Simone did an excellent job bringing the model turned agent to life throughout all seven seasons.

Aside from New Girl, the highest-rates series Simone has been a part of is Loafy. The adult animated comedy is about a drug-dealing Manatee that runs his operation inside of Center Park Zoo. The actress provides the voice for another resident of the Zoo: Simone the Snake.

Megan Fox (Reagan): Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special - 7.8

When Zooey Deschanel had to make a temporary departure from New Girl in the sixth season, someone had to take her spot. That, someone, was Megan Fox. The famous actress came in as the cool pharmaceutical rep named Reagan. And she quickly started a relationship with Nick that some thought was even better than the one he had with Jess.

Fox has been involved in many big movies and TV shows during her illustrious career. One of the highlights is the stop-motion sketch comedy Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special. In it, Fox was the voice of the iconic comic character, Lois Lane.

Lamorne Morris (Winston): Star Vs. The Forces Of Evil - 8.0

Lamorne Morris replaced the departing Damon Wayans Jr. in New Girl's second-ever episode. He played Winston, a character that early on was mostly used as a foil for the more wacky personalities around him. Then he started to get weirder and better with every season. And eventually, he became the most unusual member of the loft by far.

While still working on New Girl, Morris guest-starred in an episode of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. He was a Karate expert known as the Grandmaster, who came to Echo Creek to witness the town's best martial artist perform. With an 8.0 on IMDb, the animated comedy series has a better rating than everything else the actor has done.

Damon Wayans Jr. (Coach): Curb Your Enthusiasm - 8.7

After featuring in the pilot, Damon Wayans Jr. didn't appear as Coach again until season three. While he wasn't in as many episodes as the other members of the loft, the over-enthusiastic character always provided plenty of entertainment when he did show up.

The actor is no stranger to comedy as he has had many roles in humor-filled shows and films in the past. IMDb regards Curb Your Enthusiasm as the best of them all. He made a cameo as a cop in the popular show's ninth season.

Zooey Deschanel (Jess): The Simpsons - 8.7

In New Girl's early days, the series revolved around Zooey Deschanel's Jess. And even when her co-stars started to share some of the limelight, she was still front and center alongside them. Yet, there weren't too many complaints about her leading role as the quirky character was, in many ways, the heart of the show.

Deschanel's best-received series on IMDb, though, is The Simpsons. She appeared in a few episodes of the animated comedy as Mary Spuckler, the young daughter of Springfield mainstay Cletus. The character is most known for her romance with Bart.

Jake Johnson (Nick): Bojack Horseman - 8.7

Nick Miller changed significantly over the show's seven seasons. He started out as a lazy underachiever before blossoming into a dimwitted yet semi-successful writer. Throughout it all, though, he remained one of the consistently funniest characters on the show.

The actor who played the character, Jake Johnson, also had a role in the popular dramedy, Bojack Horseman. He voiced a Meerkat accountant named Oxnard, who was always trying to stop his client, Mr. Peanutbutter, from making insane purchases.

Max Greenfield (Schmidt): Bojack Horseman - 8.7

The obsessive Schmidt made fans laugh for seven seasons straight with his outrageous outbursts, unique pronunciation of words, and all of his other odd traits. Max Greenfield was the man to bring the character to life for all those years.

He's also featured in many TV shows and films since the sitcom first aired. Like Jake Johnson, his best was Bojack Horsman, according to IMDb reviewers. Greenfield had a multi-episode run on the sad show about an aging Hollywood (or Hollywoo) star. Although, Greenfield provided some levity as Maximillian Bucks, the wacky reporter who investigated Sarah Lynne's death.

Nasim Pedrad (Aly): It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - 8.8

Aly became a series regular in the show's later seasons as Winston's partner, both professionally and romantically. She was sometimes the voice of reason for the group, though occasionally she was as bizarre as the rest of the crew. The character was portrayed by Nasim Pedrad.

Before her time on New Girl, Pedrad played a small role in an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In the edgy comedy, she worked in a wedding dress store and questioned the legitimacy of Sweet Dee's upcoming nuptials.

Nelson Franklin (Robby): The Office (US) - 8.9

Nelson Franklin's kind-hearted Robby.entered the series as the boyfriend of Cece and would later go on to date Jess. In this time, his wholesome nature won over the hearts of the fans as he became one of the show's most beloved secondary characters.

The Office was another popular comedy that featured the actor. Firstly he was a graphic design expert that advised Pam on his industry. Then later, he reappeared as an IT guy named Nick. The two characters are seemingly meant to be different people.

Steve Agee (Outside Dave): Rick And Morty - 9.2

Outside Dave was a man who lived in front of the loft for many years. He never had an abundance of storylines, but he was still loved by the fans. This is because every time he would turn up onscreen, he would say something hilarious. By the series finale, he had contributed countless laugh-out-loud lines.

The man portraying the character was Steve Agee, who can be seen or heard in plenty of other great TV shows. Perhaps the most popular series he's been involved with is Rick and Morty. In the memorable "Meeseeks and Destroy" episode, he provided the voices for the restaurant owner and a giant.
