Bethesda has given the Elder Scrolls fans even more content for Skyrim as they hit their 10th anniversary of the beloved game. Although the fans would really like to see a new game released in the series (hopefully in the next two years), updates for Skyrim make the wait just a little more bearable.

The Anniversary Edition of Skyrim unlocked the Creation Club and added tons more content for players to enjoy, such as player homes, mounts, pets, new weapons and armor, locations, and more. The game's neverending material really manages to keep it relevant even ten years after its release. These are the best new quests added to the game, but plenty of others are worth trying.

The Cause

A character in full armor holding a sword in Skyrim

This is one of the biggest quests with the Anniversary Edition and guarantees an array of loot. Unfortunately, to begin this quest, players have to be level 46 or above. Upon reaching that level, the Courier will approach and give the player a letter that triggers the start of the questline.

The player must track down Mythic Dawn camps upon the rumor that a possible oblivion gate could be opening. This quest is even more special for Elder Scroll fans that also played the past game, Oblivion. It leads the player to actually delve back into oblivion gate and battle multiple dremoras and creatures resembling those of the other game. There are new puzzles in the dungeon, new creatures to fight, a load of daedric gear to claim, and a possible new horse as well. It can prove to be a difficult quest to complete, so it requires players to be at a higher level.

Saints and Seducers

Four characters in full armor readying for battle in Skyrim Anniversary Edition What

Saints and Seducers is another quest that pays homage to Oblivion, featuring content from the DLC The Shivering Isles. To start this quest, players must talk to the traveling Khajiit, Ri'saad. He can normally be found near the Whiterun stables, but it could differ.

Ri'saad tells the player about different Saints and Seducer camps popping up around Skyrim and begins the start of this questline, although there are branching quests from here. This quest leads to dungeons and fights with the Dark Seducers and Golden Saints featured in The Shivering Isles. Upon completing the quests, players can secure a new pet, spells to summon their own Saints and Seducers, Madness gear, and the ability to craft more Madness gear with the new materials now found around the world.

Forgotten Seasons

A character in full armor riding an automaton horse in Skyrim Anniversary Edition

The Forgotten Seasons is one of the longer quests to complete that leads the player through a Dwemer dungeon themed like the four seasons. To begin this quest, the player must investigate the Runoff Caverns located northwest of Falkreath. The player must delve pretty far into the Runoff Caverns for this quest to initiate.

This dungeon showed an impressive display of effects and mechanics that made this quest even more interesting. The player must complete several puzzles to enter the main room and face the boss. These puzzles are a bit tedious but worth it in the end. Completing the different branching quests within the dungeon allows players to collect several different Dwemer artifacts, weapons, and even a new Dwarven horse. It also grants the player an active effect called 'Turn of the Season', which gives bonus attributes based on the weather.

Angler Acquaintances

A lizard-humanoid character holding a sword in Skyrim

Angler Acquaintances quest automatically begins when the player uses the new fishing gear added into the game or visits the Riften Fishery. Fishing gear can be bought from vendors, found near water, or in random containers across the map.

This is one of Skyrim's most interesting new features from the Anniversary Edition, and much anticipated. This quest is not required to begin fishing, but it is a good one to follow to pick up the basics and test skills. If players are looking to try and collect all the species of fish, it's a great questline to begin that leads to several other branching fishing quests. It also happens to be a handy skill for the new Survival mode.

The Unquiet Dead

A dark room with a large statue at the end in Skyrim Anniversary Edition

Although not a very long quest to complete, The Unquiet Dead unlocks the opportunity for the player to begin farming. It can be started by heading to Goldenhills Plantation east of Rorikstead.

This quest allows the player to be a part of a small murder mystery. They must navigate around the plantation looking for clues and unraveling what took place there. By completing this quest, the player is granted ownership of the plantation and can farm it. It is a fully upgradeable player home with a hireable steward and more branching quests to delve deeper into the art of agriculture.

Guests for Dinner

The outside of Bloodchill Manor in Skyrim Anniversary Edition

This quest leads to a large new player home with a very intriguing story tied to the Dawnguard. To begin this quest, the player must be level 12 or higher and receive a letter from the Courier.

If players love a good vampire story, this is the perfect quest for them. At reaching level 12, the Courier will approach the player by inviting them to dinner at Bloodchill Manor. The player will be surprised by a group of vampires there and will be forced to fight them and some gargoyles. Upon defeating them, an undercover member of the Dawnguard approaches the player and gives them the deed to the property. This home is a large gothic-themed estate with every crafting table, museum room for collectibles, and storage container a player might need.

Pets of Skyrim

Another new feature is the addition of more animal companions into the game. The player must head over to the Bannered Mare Inn in Whiterun and read the 'for sale' note on the bar to begin the quest that leads to them.

The quest will lead them to all the potential pets they can ask to follow them. There are five different pets included here—a fox, a spider, a goat, a skeever, and a rabbit. It not only allows them to become the player's companions, but it opens up new crafting possibilities. It allows the player to craft collars for them and packs for them to carry loot in.

Vile Whispers

An arena in Skyrim

This quest doesn't require the player to do anything to trigger it. The quest will begin automatically, claiming rumors of a ruin called 'Champion's Rest' that was recently uncovered. Player's can travel to the map location 'Champions Rest'  east of Shor's Stone to find the dungeon there.

This dungeon does not take long to complete, but the boss battle is the best thing about it and pretty intense. The boss is a ghostly imperial figure that seems to be immune to all attacks. The key is to attack him when he summons his minions because, at this time, he becomes vulnerable to damage. Once he is defeated, the player can claim his powerful sword, Umbra, a previously referenced daedric artifact in Elder Scrolls history.

Battle of Champions

A character in full armor in Skyrim Anniversary Edition

The Battle of Champions quests fits perfectly into the events of Skyrim and allows the player to pick a side with the Imperial Legion or Stormcloaks. To begin this quest, the player must head to the Drunken Hunstman Inn in Whiterun and read the note 'Battle of Champions'.

Upon reading the note announcing the planned battle, the player will be directed to the Stormcloaks in Windhelm or the Imperials in Solitude to become their champion. This will require the player to either persuade the leader or complete a task to gain their trust. Once they make the player their champion, they grant them the key to the armory, collecting a special Imperial or Stormcloak set of armor. Players don't have to worry about getting one or the other because they can easily collect the other set after participating in the battle.

Bittercup

A table with a candle and an urn in Skyrim Annviersary Edition

Bittercup is a unique quest added to the game that allows the player to make a choice that affects the outcome. To begin the quest, the player has to read the book 'Mystery Altar' found in the Deadman's Drink in Falkreath.

As the player begins this quest, they will come upon three stone basins labeled with the choices—'Power,' 'Fortune,' and 'Nothing.' The quest will branch out to different paths based on the choice made. The outcomes could lead to several rewards for the player, such as gold, weapons, or a new follower. They can also be rewarded with the Bittercup potion, which is a reference to the Bittercup that can also be found in Morrowind. This potion can boost the player's highest attribute by 20 points and lower their least greatest attribute by an equal amount.
