With so many various Jobs and Sub-Jobs available for the four-person party, it can be hard to figure out what would work best for anyone's playthrough of Bravely Default 2. In total, there are 24 Jobs or classes for characters to act on. However, most have to be unlocked by players making their way through the game.

This means that depending on how far into the game a player is, their whole team build may need to change or adapt to the new circumstances. At first, all the player has access to is the Freelancer job. While having a variety of useful skills and attacks, it isn't the best at anything.

The Best Jobs and Characters for Them in Bravely Default 2

The 24 Jobs available for players to equip are:

  • Arcanist - A dark sorcerer type class whose highest stats are their MP, Magic, and Magic Defense. Their worst stats are HP, Defense, and Agility. This can make a character a great glass cannon.
  • Bard - A buffing class that isn't too great at anything. Their top stat is Healing Power, and their lowest stat is Defense. This job would work well alongside a Healing job type.
  • Bastion - A tanking healer-type class, the Bastion could be quite useful. Their highest stats include HP, Defense, Magic Defense, and Healing Power. Their lowest stat is Agility at an E rank.
  • Beastmaster - A ranger/druid type class that mainly uses some sort of creature as a pet to fight with. Their highest stats are Defense and Magic Defense at A rank. Their lowest stats are MP and Healing Power at C rank.
  • Berserker - A heavy fighter class, who can let loose to deal more damage and take more. Their highest stat is Strength and their lowest is Healing Power.
  • Black Mage - An elemental mage who is quick and deadly. Their highest stats is MP and Magic, while their lowest are Agility and Defense.
  • Bravebearer - The most versatile and maxed-out class in the game. All their stats are S rank.
  • Dragoon - A spellsword class wields them equally. Their best stats are Magic Defense and Agility at S rank. The lowest are Magic and Healing Power.
  • Freelancer - A versatile class with decent stats. All of their stats are B rank.
  • Gambler - A mage support class with terrible stats. Magic is their highest while Strength and Magic Defense are the lowest.
  • Hellblade - A spellsword with nice stats. Their top stats are Strength and Magic which are both S-tier. While their lowest is Healing Power.
  • Monk - A light fighting class with bad stats. HP is their highest stat at S rank. While their lowest stats are MP, Magic Defense, and Agility at D rank.
  • Oracle - A time and elemental mage with bad stats. Their top stats are MP and Magic at B tier. While Strength, Defense, and Healing Power are the lowest all at D tier.
  • Phantom - A poison and psychic mage with okay stats. Their top is Strength at A and Agility at S. Their lowest are MP and Healing Power at D.
  • Pictomancer - A debuff and buff mage with good stats. Their top is MP at S, then Magic and Agility at A. Their lowest are HP and Defense at E.
  • Ranger - An archer class with okay stats. Their top is Agility as an A tier. The lowest are MP and Magic Defense at E tier.
  • Red Mage - An elemental status mage with decent stats. Their top stats are Strength at S, Magic at A, and HP at B. This trades off for low E tier stats, MP, Defense, Magic Defense, and Agility.
  • Salve-Maker - An alchemist with good stats. Their top are Magic Defense and Healing Power at S tier. The lowest is MP at D and Strength at E.
  • Shield Master - A tank with great stats. The top three are S tier: HP, Defense, and Magic Defense. The lowest is Magic at D tier.
  • Spirit Master - Main healing class with good stats. Magic Defense and Healing Power are S-tier. Agility is a D tier and Strength is the lowest at E.
  • Sword Master - A good fighting class. The top stats are Magic Defense and Agility at S tier. The lowest are Magic and Healing Power at E.
  • Thief - A standard rogue class. Agility is S rank while Defense and Magic Defense are E rank.
  • Vanguard - An okay fighting class. HP and Defense are the highest stats at A rank. While Magic Defense and Healing Power sit at E.
  • White Mage - The okay healing class. Healing Power is the top stat at S rank. Strength and Magic Defense are the lowest at D.

The top classes are Bravebearer, Dragoon, Salve-Maker, Shield Master, Spirit Master, and Sword Master. However, the key to making a good party is by creating a well-rounded party whose job and sub-job support one another well. While the best of the best classes won't be available to players until later in the game, here are some of the best matchups depending on playstyle and level.

  • Seth is a speedy character making him good with classes like Dragoon, Thief, Ranger, Pictomancer, Phantom, and Bravebearer. If the player wishes to use a low agility Job for him, it should take the sub-job category to not make him too slow.
  • Gloria makes a great healer so choosing a job like White Mage, Spirit Master, Salve-Maker, Bastion, Bravebearer, and Bard.
  • Elvis is a mage through and through, choosing a job such as Arcanist, Black Mage, Gambler, Hellblade, Oracle, Pictomancer, and Red Mage are the best options for him. However, a sub-job like Beastmaster could come in handy for the MP Saver ability.
  • Adelle works well as pretty much any fighter class, like Berserker, Bravebearer, Hellblade, Monk, Phantom, Sword Master, and Vanguard.
