Netflix continues to release original movies in almost every genre, but comedies are one of the platform's most frequently released types of movies. In fact, Netflix adds and removes comedies from its platform every week. There are many different types of comedies on Netflix, from horror-comedies and those more explicit to family-friendly movies, but some have low ratings on Rotten Tomatoes that might turn away viewers.

While there are many high-rated Netflix original comedies, specifically in the romantic comedy genre, like To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Always Be My Maybe, some of their originals and other movies aren't as prestigious and yet are just so bad that they're still somehow an enjoyable watch.

The Package (2018)

Four scared characters with a cooler in Netflix's The Package

The Netflix original comedy The Package has a 42% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and although it has a better audience score, overall, the movie has negative reviews. It's a ridiculous comedy that might turn off a lot of people, including critics, at first.

The movie follows four friends on a camping trip when one of the guys has an unfortunate accident and they have to work together to help him get medical help before he loses his "package," and although the movie has a somewhat ridiculous plot, there are great interpersonal scenes between the characters that make it worth watching.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020)

Netflix's sequel to The Babysitter is an enjoyable watch, even if it misses the mark at times. Even though it's a divisive movie with mixed and negative reviews overall, it's a fun and so-bad-it's-good, self-aware horror-comedy.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen overall had negative reviews and came in with a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel has much worse reviews, but it leans more into its horror-comedy genre, making it a comedy that any fan of the genre will appreciate.

The Happytime Murders (2018)

Melissa McCarthy and a muppet detective in the Happytime Murders

Melissa McCarthy stars alongside several puppet and human characters in this raunchy murder-mystery comedy available on Netflix. The Happytime Murders is full of over-the-top exaggerated comedy and jokes, but that's what makes it so bad that it's a good and fun watch.

There's a great cast of characters in the movie, from Maya Rudolph to Joel McHale, but the impressive cast of comedians couldn't save this movie from negative reviews and a 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Good Burger (1997)

Ed and Dexter smile in a promotional image for Good Burger

Good Burger is a nostalgic movie for anyone who grew up in the 1990s watching the show Kenan & Kel and were excited to see the duo star in their own movie. It's still a fun movie to rewatch as an adult, but it's not as good as fans might have remembered.

The movie centers on a conspiracy from competitor Mondo Burger to force Good Burger to shut its doors and only allow the people to choose their subpar fast food option. With a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes, it's not a well-rated movie, but it's worth watching for its over-the-top idiocy and hilarity.

The Week Of (2018)

Adam Sandler and Chris Rock sitting on a porch and talking in Netflix's The Week Of

Adam Sandler has an extensive filmography, including several he's made for Netflix, but The Week Of is one of his weaker Netflix original movies, with a rating of 27% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The comedy stars Adam Sandler and Chris Rock as two fathers with completely different personalities, Rock being a more put together and responsible adult and Sandler close to a big child, who come together when their children decide to get married. Although it's not rated well, there's a decent amount of heart to the movie that makes it worth watching.

Fun Mom Dinner (2017)

Fun Mom Dinner stars Toni Collette, Molly Shannon, Katie Aselton, and Bridget Everett as four moms with different personalities who decide to have a wild night out after meeting at their kids' preschool. Paul Rudd and Adam Scott also appear in the movie, rounding out a strong cast.

It's a typical raunchy comedy that has a surprising amount of heart and great actors, but those positives didn't balance out the overwhelmingly negative reviews and a 32% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Year One (2009)

David Cross, Jack Black, and Michael Cera in period clothing in Year One

Jack Black and Michael Cera star in Year One as best friends living in the B.C. era. The two leave their tribe after Zed (Jack Black) eats forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge and they go on a raunchy adventure with several famous actors popping up throughout, from Paul Rudd to Olivia Wilde.

Year One has a 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes but the audience seemed to give it more positive reviews and enjoyed it more than critics did and is a movie that's so bad that it's an enjoyable watch.

The Spy Next Door (2010)

Jackie Chan stars in "The Spy Next Door."

Jackie Chan stars in this kids comedy as an undercover CIA agent who decides to settle down and get married to his long-time girlfriend. She has two kids and Bob (Chan) wants to build a relationship with them, so he offers to watch them when she's called away for work.

Things quickly get out of hand when the kids get into his old work and alert the villains to his location and Bob has to protect them without giving up his cover. It's a fun and kid-friendly comedy, but it has a dismal 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009)

Still of Kevin James from the first Paul Blart Mall Cop movie.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop was a hit when it was first released in 2009, but it has always fallen into the category of so bad that it's good. The comedy follows Paul Blart (Kevin James), who takes his job as a mall cop extremely seriously, and his skills are put to the test when a real-life robbery happens on his watch.

It's Blart's serious nature combined with the slapstick comedy that makes the movie so bad it's good, but its slapstick comedy approach might also attribute to its 34% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Coffee And Kareem (2020)

Characters hiding in Coffee and Kareem

Netflix's original comedy, Coffee and Kareem, is an at times violent comedy about a young teenager trying to chase away her mom's new police officer boyfriend. The movie quickly spirals out of control when the characters are pulled into a criminal conspiracy and have to work together to survive and stop the villains.

It's a bit of a typical plot, but the acting from Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson, make the movie, which only has a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, worth the watch.
