John Hughes' The Breakfast Club is about five teenagers learning about themselves and each other during their Saturday detention. This '80s film is a comedy that touched on the topic of gender, giving a quirky spin to the teen comedy genre of the '80s. The film's plot focuses on seeing the world from a different point of view. With The Breakfast Club, the characters come to understand and accept each other for both their differences and similarities and the same could be said for Terry in Just One Of The Guys.

Like The Breakfast Club, Empire Records takes place in one location. In the end, the movie gives viewers romance, drama, and comedy all rolled up in one. And just like The Breakfast Club, the film is iconic in its casting, acting, and the ultimate movie soundtrack.
