Run is a thriller that revolves around Chloe, who uses a wheelchair and is constantly supervised by her mother, Diane. As the story goes on, Chloe begins to suspect that her mother is giving her medications to prevent her from leaving her side and making Chloe believe she has conditions which, in reality, she does not.

Though the premise is not a new one, Run does an excellent job at executing it, providing moments of genuine tension. Kiera Allen and Sarah Paulson convincingly play the two main characters, giving a further sense of realism to what audiences see on-screen.

Nomadland

A great movie set in the American heartland, which allows for some gorgeous scenery, Nomadland is not only an aesthetically beautiful film, but it also provides a great story. The film stars Frances McDormand as Fern, who loses her job soon after her husband dies and decides to sell most of her possessions and travel the United States, living out of a van.

She visits a variety of places, meets interesting people, and learns more about herself in the process. The film is a wonderful exploration of the character, earning three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Greenland

Starring Morena Baccarin and Gerard Butler as the main protagonists of the story, Greenland is about a potential extinction event brought on by an incoming comet strike. As the event approaches, a family seeks an escape from the apocalypse by attempting to find safety at a site in Greenland.

While many films with similar premises tend to miss the mark, Greenland features excellent dramatic tension and makes audiences care about the characters on-screen, putting it on par with some of the best natural disaster movies. Performances feel realistic and help the audience to become further invested in the premise.

The Invisible Man

The premise has been adapted on several occasions, but the 2020 version delivers a different spin to become one of the best movies based on H.G. Wells's The Invisible Man. In this rendition, Cecilia Kass thinks that her terrible ex-boyfriend, who is believed to have died, is still alive and has gained the ability to become invisible, terrorizing her while remaining invisible.

Much of the horror is well done, and Elisabeth Moss's portrayal of the main protagonist provides an excellent presence to The Invisible Man, bringing the character to life and displaying Cecilia's complex emotions excellently.

Extraction

With well-done action and an exciting plot, Extraction offers a high-energy experience that is an exceptional addition to the action and thriller genres. It centers on Tyler Rake, a mercenary played by Chris Hemsworth, who is hired to rescue the son of a drug lord, who has been kidnapped by a rival leader.

The character has much more emotional weight behind his actions than he immediately lets on, which is portrayed well by Hemsworth, making the character more sympathetic and adding to the dramatic tension of his scenes.

An emotional and inspiring Pixar film, Soul is about Joe Gardner, a music teacher who dreams of being a professional musician. This film is full of heart and centers on themes of passion, friendship, and enjoying every moment. Music is a major part of the movie, and the soundtrack is excellent, adding an extra layer of excitement and emotion to the already wonderful film.

The Call Of The Wild

The landscapes are beautifully shot, giving audiences a glimpse into the vast nature of the region. Also, though the main character is a CGI dog, he is brought to life through the performances of all those around him, especially Ford.

Carey Mulligan's performance in the lead role elevates Promising Young Woman, bringing a thrilling, heartfelt, and occasionally funny presence in a true display of her talents as an actor.
