Enchanted (2007) - 7.0

Enchanted is an upbeat musical with a unique premise. Just before she is to be married, a fairy tale princess is sent to New York City by an evil witch, and subsequent chaos follows the fair maiden trying to navigate the hustle and bustle of a big city. The film is so memorable and easily enjoyable that its high IMDb score may not come as a surprise to many.

The movie stars big names like Amy Adams, James Marsden, Susan Sarandon, Patrick Dempsey, and Idina Menzel. Interestingly, Enchanted's three Oscar nominations were all in the Best Orignal Song category. The beloved musical will even be getting a long-awaited sequel in 2022, titled Disenchanted. 

The Princess And The Frog (2009) - 7.1

Before the decade ended, Disney threw in another contender for best musical of the 2000s era with The Princess And The Frog, marking an important moment in cinema history with the first Black Disney Princess, Tiana. The film takes the classic fairy tale story and fills it full of soul, jazz, and stunning visuals all while set in 1920s New Orleans.

The songs from The Princess And The Frog are widely adored by musical lovers and even earned the film two Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. Soon, the film's story will continue with the new sequel series debuting on Disney+ titled Tiana.

The film follows a romance between a rich girl from America and a poor boy from Liverpool through an adventurous plot that takes place during the Vietnam war. Full of psychedelic musical numbers, Across The Universe perfectly embodies the essence of the Beatles in cinema format.

The film follows a visually impaired factory worker trying to provide for her son and features a collection of unique, non-typical musical numbers.
