Sometimes, it is with food, and sometimes, it could simply be a homemade gift. Now, this doesn't have to be in the conventional sense. It's can be just as meaningful if someone tells you they see a future (or want to grow old) with you too. If you have been considering making a commitment to someone but don't know the best way to do it, maybe these movies may help you out? The creativity in these 'proposals' has proven to be quite memorable.

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in The Wedding Singer on the plane

The Wedding Singer not only kicked of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's iconic working relationship, but it also gave the world one of the most iconic romantic comedies of its time. After all, what's a wedding movie without at least one epic proposal.

Though Robbie (Sandler) and Julia (Barrymore) start off as just friends their relationship blossoms into a complex one since Julia is already engaged. All of this ends with Robbie chasing Julia down before she can marry her fiance and serenading her on the plane. While it's not your traditional marriage proposal, it is an extremely cute one.

Aside from breaking down barriers, Crazy Rich Asians also gave us one of the best proposal scenes ever. After realizing that Nick's (Henry Golding) family would never accept her, Rachel (Constance Wu) decides to go back home. Determined not to let her go, Nick chases after her and ends up proposing to her on the plane. As if that's not cute enough, Nick reveals the ring he's proposing with once belonged to his mom, meaning she has finally come to accept Rachel.

Toula & Ian - My Big Fat Greek Wedding

While the movie really focuses on Toula (Nia Vardalos) and Ian's (John Corbett) road to marriage, the writers were smart enough to include their early story in the movie, including their epic, simple, proposal. While lying in bed together, Ian is so overcome for his love for Toula that he asks to marry her right there and then. The proposal is proof that not everything has to be over the top as long as it's coming from the heart.

Edward & Bella - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010)

Edward & Bella - Twilight

While not everyone might have been "Team Edward" during the height of the Twilight craze, everyone can agree that Edward's (Robert Pattinson) proposal to Bella (Kristen Stewart) was beyond perfect.

After surviving death on more than one occasion, Edward finally decides to ask Bella to marry him in the third installment of the series, Eclipse. Since Edward has been alive for over a century, he tells Bella all the different ways their relationship could have happened if they had met earlier before he finally pulls out his mother's ring and asks Bella to spend forever with him.

Harry & Sam - The Things About Harry (2020)

The Thing About Harry Movie

While Hollywood and romantic comedies have come a long way and have begun to be more inclusive, some of the bigger romantic moments often happen off the screen. So while Harry (Niko Terho) and Sam (Jake Borelli) don't actually have an on-screen proposal in The Thing About Harry, when they agree to be with each other, it's equally as cute and iconic.

Sam and Harry have a complicated history together but it's only after sharing a car ride home, these two realize they have a lot more in common. It isn't until the end of the movie though that Sam and Harry are honest with each other about their feelings.

In fact, it takes a romantic grand gesture from Harry where he tells Sam that there "is no one he would want to go through life with" for these two to finally get together. While the proposal isn't seen on screen, Harry's declaration rings true as he and Sam end up married and raise a child together.

What's ironic about the Jerry Maguire proposal scene is that it's often overshadowed by the iconic and quotable scene that comes just before the proposal where Zellweger utters those famous words, "you had me at hello." The proposal comes later when Jerry continues to chase after Dorothy as she tries to leave town with her son. He finally gets her to stop and listen and at that moment Jerry asks her to marry him so that they can stay and be a family.

Kristen & Jeremy - Think Like A Man (2012)

Kristen & Jeremey - Think Like A Man

When it comes to underrated romantic comedies, Think Like A Man certainly tops the list. Not only does the movie tell a relatable love story it also has a pretty memorable proposal.

In the movie, Kristen (Gabrielle Union) is determined to get commitment-phobe Jeremy (Jerry Ferrara) to marry her. However, she ends up realizing her plan is jeopardizing her own happiness. The two end up breaking up and Kristen loses herself in her work. Rachel & Luce - Imagine Me & You (2005)

Rachel & Luce - Imagine Me And You

Imagine Me & You is definitely an underrated movie that might not hold up quite as well as it did when it released. It's also another one of those movies that have more of an "off-screen" proposal but a proposal none the less.

In the movie, Rachel (Piper Perabo) and Luce (Lena Headey) find themselves in a complicated relationship when Rachel beings to developed feelings for Luce despite being married. As their friendship teeters on the edge of a romance, Rachel must come to terms with her feelings.

In the end, Rachel separates from her husband and chases down Luce in an epic romantic gesture, where she admits that she wants to be with Luce and sees "a future with her." Years later, Rachel and Luce are seen happily together.

Belle & Jesse - Taxi (2004)

Taxi Henry Simmons and Queen Latifah

Although Taxi is classed as an action-comedy, that doesn't mean there aren't romantic elements. The 2004 version starring Queen Latifah, Jimmy Fallon, and Henry Simmons has one of the most heartfelt and unique proposals of all time.

Like all good proposals, it's all about the build-up, which also means the best surprise comes at the very end of the movie. In the movie, it is revealed that Belle (Latifah) and Jesse (Simmons) had been together for years, with the latter ready to take the next step in their relationship. Problem is, he can't seem to find the perfect moment to propose (until the end that is).

As Belle finally achieves her dream of driving in NASCAR, Jesse proposes just before her first big race, using the Jumbotron to ask her. Considering how monumental the day had been for Belle already, this moment made it even more special.
