Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness proved many popular fan theories to be wrong, including the suspected re-appearance of Vision, who viewers hoped would be reunited with Wanda either as White Vision or as himself somewhere within the multiverse.

Alas, for now, Vision's future within the MCU still remains a mystery. While fans may not have been able to see him in the Marvel release, they can still reminisce about his unique and admired character through the plethora of memes that seek to answer his famous question to Wanda: "What am I?"

Logic Trumps All

In Age of Ultron, it’s made clear that Vision is supposed to be the best of all the Avengers, someone who can look beyond human emotions and focus on the bigger picture for the greater good. Part of what allows Vision to do this is his excellent logic and reasoning, which is a defining part of his character.

While initially serving as a soundboard for the Avengers, fans saw his heart start to contend with his brain as his feelings for Wanda developed throughout the MCU. However, WandaVision viewers were reminded of Vision’s superior skills pertaining to logic during the Ship of Theseus conversation with White Vision, a moment adeptly showcased in this meme by Redditor HenryTungsten.

Gifted Kid Burnout

His debut in Age of Ultron established Vision to be someone with immense power, practicality, and morality. His words of wisdom, impressive battle skills, and – perhaps most importantly – ability to wield Mjolnir made fans excited to see another incredible addition to the Avengers team.

However, his subsequent appearances seemed to diminish some of that initially developed hype and potential, as highlighted in this meme shared by Reddit user braveen10. Granted, much of his arc had to do with him allowing his feelings for Wanda to distract him from his moral obligations (as seen in one of the best summer blockbusters ever, Civil War), yet still, fans were hoping for a better end for one of the most powerful characters in the MCU.

Literally

Having superior logic and reasoning also meant Vision was exceedingly literal, especially as he tried to learn the ways of the human world he was abruptly spawned into. This meme shared by Redditor dow366 highlights his factual nature and the scenarios it can lead to.

While at times this could be a point of frustration or a moment for teaching – such as the widely loved scene of Wanda explaining why her sitcom is funny – it was undoubtedly a significant part of Vision’s personality. Plus, his quirky mannerisms and thoughts are also what helped him charm his way into Wanda’s heart.

Inhuman, but Humane

Despite being made to float above human emotions and weaknesses, Vision has some of the most heart-wrenching and wise quotes in the entire MCU. Although he is less human than the rest of the Avengers, Vision is undoubtedly one of the most humane and moral characters on the team, a large part of what makes his character so adored.

His trademark throughout the MCU has been his ability to deliver some of the most well-explained and emotional lines in the films in his perfectly composed and matter-of-fact tone, a signature Vision trait emphasized in this meme posted to Reddit.

Born Worthy

Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, is an important part of not only his own films, but also the whole MCU. From its original appearance to Captain America wielding it in Endgame, Mjolnir has played a key role in helping fans justify who in the series is most worthy. Of course, all MCU fans will know that there is one person, apart from Thor, whose deservedness of the hammer has never been questioned: Vision.

Vision was able to carry the hammer from the moment he was “born,” a key factor in the Avengers deciding to trust him in Age of Ultron and a moment poked fun at here in this meme by @FilMongerOffl. This moment again proved him to be a worthy and admirable character.

Wanda’s Sadness, Hope, and Love

There are many times that Wanda Maximoff has broken fans' hearts in the MCU. She has gone from villain to Avenger, to misguided and misunderstood; and now Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has rendered her back into a villain. However, the one person who always strived to help, understand, and love Wanda was Vision.

He made her feel safe and seen and heard in a way no one else was able to – even when she became a zombie and ate all her friends in What If…? – so there is no doubt he would’ve been able to show her the error of her ways in the Doctor Strange sequel, as depicted in this meme by Redditor Lagvaldemag. After all, a large part of Vision’s character and overall arc in the MCU is his ongoing ability to be Wanda’s sounding board and anchor in the constant waves of grief.

Peak Romance

Not only did Vision serve as Wanda’s support throughout the MCU, but the two of them also portrayed peak romance throughout the films, a relationship that formed an important foundation for their choices and character development. What made their love story so great is there was a natural, slow progression.

From Age of Ultron’s subtle looks to Civil War’s bonding over Paprikash, all the way to the final “I love you” in Infinity War before Wanda ripped the mind stone from his head, Wanda and Vision had many great moments in the MCU. Theirs was a slow-burn romance built in the nuances and little things they did for one another, as encapsulated by Reddit user AlivePal.

Jarvis Personified

Jarvis was a beloved companion to Tony for many years and became one of the highlights of the Iron Man films. With his dry humor, intelligence, and good conscience, Jarvis was the perfect calm to complement Tony’s ego and occasional reckless behavior.

While Vision is undeniably much more than Jarvis, a lot of his character revolves around embodying the essence of Jarvis and elevating it into someone even more capable and worthy of being an Avenger. But, as pointed out by this meme shared by Reddit user AmmonWho42, sometimes fans forget about the Jarvis of it all.

To Update In

WandaVision was full of emotional quotes and heartbreaking moments, such as when Wanda visits the plot of what was supposed to be her and Vis' forever home. Yet there is one fatal flaw with Vision’s tear-jerking plan to retire with Wanda in the suburbs: as pointed out by Redditor Confident_Stay_3691, Vision doesn’t really age.

This meme not only pokes fun at this MCU oversight, but it further encases the complexity of Vision as a character. He’s not quite a robot, nor a normally aging human, but rather a hybrid meant to be the best of humanity without its flaws (whether or not that worked is up for debate). Vision is a constantly evolving character in the MCU - but mostly, he’s Wanda’s love.

Wasted Potential

Vision’s powers seemed to be greatly misused (almost completely unused) in Infinity War, especially given his strong debut battle performance in Age of Ultron. With the mind stone infused into his system, fans thought he would put up a much greater fight, especially given the fact that the What If…? version of Vision x Ultron was able to splice Thanos perfectly in half (“balanced, as all things should be”).

Although Ultron undoubtedly has a more ruthless and violent approach to things than Vision, that scene really showcased all of Vision’s wasted potential, as shown in this meme shared by Redditor I_Am_No_Jedi.
