10 SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - THE ART OF THE MOVIE

Aptly designed to look like a yearbook, Spider-Man: Homecoming – The Art of the Movie is a wonderful book that any fan of the web-crawler will appreciate. Featuring concept art for characters, gadgets, vehicles, and environments, as well as production designs and storyboards, this art book is an excellent companion for anyone who wants to go behind the scenes of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The book also has Peter’s scenes from Captain America: Civil War, which is cool since they were missing from the Civil War art book. It’s fun, colorful, and whimsical, just the way a Spidey book is supposed to be.

9 MARVEL'S CAPTAIN MARVEL: THE ART OF THE MOVIE

Captain Marvel is finally here, certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and killing it at the box office. MCU’s first female-led film was one of the most highly anticipated films of 2019 and it did not disappoint. Brie Larson is absolutely fantastic, as well as Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson, and the rest of the supporting cast. But we all know that the true star of the show was Reggie, aka Goose the Cat.

Unfortunately, Marvel’s Captain Marvel: The Art of the Movie doesn’t feature much about Goose or Flerken. However, it does contain concept art of a Pulp Fiction-inspired Nick Fury, as well as heaps of other stunning concept art for characters, costumes, vehicles, and environments, plus informative write-ups.

The 240-page Art of Ant-Man and The Wasp art book is no small matter – pun most certainly intended. The book contains tons of concept art, including alternate costume designs that didn’t make it into the film, pages of full-color concept art of various locations, production designs and exclusive behind-the-scenes secrets.

The front of the book looks like a Pym Technologies file, while the back has stunning fragments of the Quantum Realm coming in from the left side. Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp: The Art Of The Movie is a must-have for any fan of Marvel’s two tiny heroes.

If you loved the design of the armor we saw in the film, then you’ll love seeing all the different iterations that didn’t make the cut. Avengers: Age of Ultron: The Art of the Movie features a surprising amount of concept art for characters like Ultron, Vision, and Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor.

On top of that, the book contains environment and props concept art, as well as storyboards with commentary for most pieces. With over 300 pages, this is one of MCU’s best art books.

Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok stands out form the rest of Marvel Cinematic Universe in many different aspects, but mostly it stands out due to its particular aesthetic. Inspired by the work of Jack Kirby, Waititi made a Thor film that embraces the artist’s trademark prismatic style.

Just like all of the books in Marvel’s Art Of series, The Art of Captain America: Civil War comes in a slipcover. The cover features Captain America pushing his shield against Iron Man, while the book cover comes with the two in hand-to-hand combat, and the back shows the two teams facing off.

In this 272-page art book, you get to see tons of alternate character designs, environment art, and storyboards with the commentary from the staff. The action scenes look awesome spread over two pages, and the commentary is insightful and worth the read. The only qualm is the lack of Spider-Man concept art, but they were probably holding off on that until Spider-Man: Homecoming.

2 MARVEL'S BLACK PANTHER: THE ART OF THE MOVIE

The only MCU movie to get a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards, alongside with other six Academy Award nominations, Black Panther is one of the most iconic and relevant Marvel films. Ryan Coogler’s critical and commercial success proved that superhero films can be about so much more than just superheroes.
