Quick Links

Lurantis has arrived in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, becoming one of the best Pokémon used for taking down Tera Raid Dens. It is a monotype Grass- Pokémon with type advantages against Ground- and Water-types making it exceptional for recent raid events such as the 7-Star Pikachu Raid or Pokémon Scarlet's Walking Wake. The key to victory not only comes from correctly placing its Grass-typing against a weakness but also from its ability, Contrary. As always, when picking Lurantis, keep in mind its weaknesses to limit the number of times it faints.

Catching Lurantis in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is easy and can also be obtained by evolving its pre-evolution Fomantis. These Pokémon can be found near each other or on their own in locations such as South Province Area 1 or Casseroya Lake. Remember that Fomantis is very small, so being patient and walking instead of running will aid in seeking one. During the day and at level 34, Fomantis will evolve into Lurantis, giving trainers another trainable raid-ready Pokémon, much like another Grass-type such as Meowscarada in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Due to Lurantis's Grass-typing putting them to Sleep with Spore, Sleep Powder will not work. Consider using Hypnosis, Yawn, or Sing to improve the chances of catching one.

Contrary

Lurantis for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raids should always be given its Hidden Ability Contrary. According to the Pokémon Database, "Contrary makes stat changes have an opposite effect," which is very useful for moves such as Leaf Storm, which lowers the user's Special Attack. In fact, Leaf Storm is one of Lurantis's best moves, and with Contrary continues to get stronger with usage. Additionally, with Lurantis having access to Sunny Day and Solar Beam, after using Leaf Storm many times to boost its stat, it wrecks opponents with this ultimate move.

Best Held Items

Shell Bell or Heat Rock

The best-held items for Lurantis during a Tera Raid either heal it or situationally helps it. The first preferred held item is Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Shell Bell. Depending on how much damage Lurantis does against an opponent, it returns approximately an eighth of that damage back as healing. With a strong move like Leaf Storm or Solar Beam, Lurantis will be able to restore its health in no time while attacking a Tera Raid Den Pokémon. The second item to give Lurantis is a Heat Rock to keep its Sunny Day field effect shining for three extra turns. This gives it more opportunities to send a Solar Beam toward its foe, succeeding as a strong Pokémon for Tera Raids.
