Players in Mario Golf: Super Rush only start off with a few starter clubs, which can seem a bit underwhelming at first. Luckily, unlocking new items in the game can be done frequently and with relative ease. There are tons of clubs and outfits for players to choose from, however, the options can get overwhelming for those just starting the game.

While certain clubs can only be unlocked by obtaining character points (like the 1-star and 2-star Super Clubs), there are plenty of items that can be unlocked after players complete the Rookie Course at the start of the game. More items become available in the store as players progress and unlock new courses.

What to Buy First in Mario Golf: Super Rush

In Bonny Green Clubs, the first unlockable course, players only need 600 Coins to buy a Banana Draw 5 Hybrid or Banana Fade 5 Hybrid. These clubs add some curve to the ball depending on whether the player uses their right or left hand. The Fade 5 curves shots in the same direction as the player's hand (i.e. right-handed players have their shots curved right), while the Draw 5 does the opposite (left-handed players have their shots curved right, etc). These clubs are a great way to center shots if that’s a point of struggle.

In Ridgerock Lake Clubs, players can spend 600 Coins on the Boomerang Fade 9 Iron or Boomerang Draw 9 Iron. These function similarly to the Banana clubs, however provide a sharp curve rather than a subtle one. These clubs are for players who struggle significantly with getting their shots to curve the right way. Players can also spend 800 Coins on a Piranha Plant Approach Wedge, which makes it easier to control shots out of deep rough and mud.

Besides these cheaper items, there are pricier items players can buy at every store. At Balmy Dunes Clubs, the final unlockable course, players can spend 1500 Coins on a Bul’s Eye Bill 5 Wood, which helps hit hard to control wind-resistant shots. There are some expensive items on the early courses as well, like the Super Mushroom Driver on Bonny Greens Clubs, which generates topspin.

In addition, players who want to change up their character's aesthetics can buy outfits from the first course. Bonny Greens and Ridgerock Lake both have different shoes available for 500 Coins, and an outfit for 800. Balmy Dunes has Desert Shoes available for 800, and Cool Attire for 1000.

Finally, there are two pieces of equipment in the game that are incredibly useful, and players should prioritize getting them as soon as they can. The Range Finder is 500 Coins at Bonny Greens or Balmy Dunes, and allows the player to determine shot distance with their golfwatch. The Elevation Finder is available in Balmy Dunes, and allows players to determine elevation change with their golfwatch.

When it comes to the items in Mario Golf: Super Rush, players should spend their coins on what they think will benefit them most depending on their playstyle. Thise guide should serve as a starting off point for players unsure of what to buy first, and what will be most helpful.
