For someone who's said he doesn't like being in movies, Hugh Grant has undoubtedly been in a lot of them. The English actor has appeared in almost 40 feature films since his debut in 1982. He made his reputation as an actor in several romantic comedies in the 1990s, some of which appear on this list.

Grant has strayed away from romantic comedies in recent years, instead of taking on an increasingly diverse set of roles. Films such as Cloud Atlas and The Gentlemen proved Grant's ability to disappear into a variety of roles. Here are Hugh Grant's 10 best movies, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

 Bridget Jones's Diary - 80%

Daniel Cleaver in Bridget Jones' Diary

Grant starred as the titular character's boss, Daniel. Renee Zellweger's Bridget falls in love with him after she is snubbed by Mark (Colin Firth). They start dating but break things off when Bridget finds another woman in Daniel's apartment. She lands a job in television and begins developing feelings for Mark instead.

It's later revealed that Daniel and Mark were college friends who had a falling out when Daniel slept with Mark's wife. The film was the third collaboration between Grant and screenwriter Richard Curtis.

Notting Hill - 83%

Grant reunited with Four Weddings and a Funeral screenwriter Richard Curtis to star alongside Julia Roberts in this 1999 film. Paddington 2 - 100%

Grant took a rare villainous turn in Paddington 2 as Phoenix Buchanan, an actor who steals a pop-up book Paddington Bear intends to give his aunt Lucy on her 100th birthday. Critics adored the film's heart, adventure, sincerity, and cheerful nature. A far cry from "good for a family movie," Paddington 2 is a good movie, no qualifiers needed.
