It's hard for some viewers to admit that they love a movie, and that's mostly because there's a certain stigma attached to it. Whether it's because the movie is mostly hated by others, because it has aged badly, or because, deep down, they know it's bad, it's easy to feel guilty about liking a film that others don't.

Reddit has some strong, positive feelings for movies that others feel negatively about. Between a horror series that was run into the ground, a superhero movie that gives viewers second-hand embarrassment, and a holiday movie with no festive spirit, Redditors are reluctant to admit they love these movies.

Underworld (2003)

Seline shoots hand guns in Underworld

The original Underworld is about a war between vampires and werewolves, and it's a perfect blend of horror and action. But each consecutive sequel gets more out of hand and outrageous than the last.

Despite the series' diminishing returns, Kroqus loves not just the first movie, but the whole series, explaining that they "know it's nothing to write home about, but I can't help but enjoy the hell out of this franchise." The 2003 film will always be the best Underworld movie, but it's easy to be pulled in by the world-building of the following four movies too, even if they are ridiculous and forget what made the first one great.

Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)

Jesse and Chester wear hats with their names on in Dude, Where’s my Car

There was a huge trend in Hollywood in the late-1990s and early 2000s that saw the release of tons of teen movies, but not many of them hold up today. They are full of cringey jokes and pop culture references that today's teenagers wouldn't understand, and Dude, Where's My Car? is no different.

However, MakatiTowa loves the 2000 teen comedy and jokingly suggests that "ain't nobody consider it a real 'bad movie.'" While the audience and critical receptions would quickly dispute that, Dude, Where's My Car? is underrated. The film cleverly intertwines sci-fi with the genre, Ashton Kutcher and Sean William Scott make a great comedy duo, and it's a stoner movie with no explicit references to cannabis, making it pretty unique.

Jingle All The Way (1996)

Most Christmas movies follow a heartwarming narrative where a parent or a child learns a valuable lesson, which usually boils down to spending more time with family. But that isn't the case with Jingle All the WayJKirbyFan, who loves the movie, explains the moral of the film is that "if you don't give into consumerism and get your kid the most popular toy of the season, they'll grow up to be a loser."

Jingle All the Way could almost be looked at as a social commentary on how materialistic the holiday season has become, but that might be giving the film too much credit. Either way, it's still a fun movie that any '90s kid who grew up with it will still love today.

Speed Racer (2008)

A car drifts across a race track in Speed Racer

Speed Racer is an adaptation of a Japanese manga of the same name, and though the manga has a huge fanbase, the movie failed to win over audiences. However, AdWest38 loves the film, even though they openly admit that they "maintain that the poor reviews are possibly deserved."

The Redditor loved the adult themes in the family movie and that it still had a lot of heart. Though it is a rough watch, the effects are still dazzling, and there's such a sense of speed that few other movies can compete with. The user could have even seen a sequel if the movie wasn't such a box office bomb, as Speed Racer 2 is an abandoned Wachowski project.

Batman & Robin (1997)

Beginning-Quality948 thinks that "for some reason" Batman & Robin is a guilty pleasure. But it isn't hard to see why anybody wouldn't want to admit that the superhero movie is great. Most of the dialogue is made up of puns, the acting is terrible, and, of course, there are nipples on the Batsuit.

But in many cases, Batman & Robin is better than viewers think. Where so many superheroes make endless jokes while in battle in today's acclaimed superhero movies, maybe the 1995 movie should be reevaluated.

Bad Boys 2 (2003)

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starred as Miami police officers in Bad Boys II

Bad Boys was an entertaining action movie that had a little bit of comedy sprinkled throughout, but the sequel turns everything up to 11. As Bad Boys 2 fan RLD-Kemy notes, "few films match the Bayhem in terms of pure visual spectacle on a grand scale."

In the sequel, the comedy has evolved from funny banter between the protagonists to outrageous singalongs with the Klu Klux Klan and hiding in morgues with dead bodies. Even when it comes down to Michael Bay's signature shots, such as helicopters flying in front of the sunset and Dutch angles, they are almost endless in the 2003 film. Bad Boys 2 is the ultimate Michael Bay movie.

The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

Neo battles Agent Smith in the rain in The Matrix Revolutions

It almost seems as if the Wachowski sisters are the queens of guilty pleasure movies. Not only did they direct Speed Racer but they also helmed the Matrix series. Ironically, while The Matrix is considered one of the most revolutionary action movies ever made, The Matrix Revolutions isn't.

But the third film in the series has its fans, even if they don't like to admit it. PaperJamDipper7 thinks Revolutions is a guilty pleasure, and they explain that they "rewatched the movie so many times even though it has a very split opinion amongst the general crowd." And though the movie is massively criticized for its final fight scene between Neo and Agent Smith, the Redditor loves the film for that exact scene.

Freddy Got Fingered (2001)

Gordon looks into the camera in Freddy Got Fingered

Freddy Got Fingered follows a 28-year-old slacker (Tom Green) with dreams of becoming a cartoonist, only his obsession with antagonizing his father gets in the way. When it comes to comedies, it's as surreal as they come, and the Green-led movie is almost intentionally bad.

However, Fearandloathinginpdx admits that "it’s horrible but I laugh every time." Though the Redditor is reluctant to admit they love the movie, it has actually gained a significant cult following in the 20 years since its release. And despite winning five Razzies, it's still endlessly quotable.

Resident Evil (2002)

Milla Jovovich holds a gun in Resident Evil 2002

Just like with UnderworldRichard1177 admits that they love not just the first Resident Evil, but the whole series. The Redditor knows that "they have some bad moments," which is putting it lightly, but that the movies are perfectly serviceable action flicks.

Though the movie franchise totally forgot that it was based on a series of horror video games by the end, as the horror element was almost completely absent in The Final Chapter, the action in the films is still entertaining. And when compared to the newly released, critically-scathed reboot, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City, the first six movies are great.

Point Break (1991)

Johnny Utah in the rain in Point Break

The premise of Point Break is utterly ridiculous, and no viewer can take it seriously, as it follows an undercover FBI agent (Keanu Reeves) who has to infiltrate a group of surfers/bank robbers. And as Reeves wasn't exactly the best actor at the time, the delivery of some of his lines makes it hilarious to watch.

However, Canmore-Skate is a huge fan of the movie, admitting that it's "so corny, but the surfing stuff gets me every time" In fairness, the dangerous extreme sports sequences are mesmerizing, and as it's directed by Kathryn Bigelow, one of the finest action directors, the action scenes are genuinely thrilling.
