The New Scooby-Doo Movies kept the love for Scooby-Doo going following the end of the original series, which debuted in 1969. Several more spin-offs of Scooby-Doo, in both film and television, have since been established, but these particular episodes are cherished as a time capsule. They reflect the 1970s in the characters that Scooby and the gang met, and the adventures they got to go on while trying to solve mysteries.

Guest stars from Don Knotts to Sonny and Cher made appearances on the show; some guest stars even appeared in more than one episode. We love them all, but we've narrowed it down to the 10 best guest stars from The New Scooby-Doo Movies to get you started.

Batman & Robin

The second episode of the first season brought in superheroes Batman and Robin, crossovers from Hanna Barbera's series Super Friends. They helped the gang get to the bottom of a counterfeiting ring run by a grandmotherly woman with a revolving house and even ran into the Joker and the Penguin in the process.

They returned again in "The Caped Crusader Caper"; while the gang is out camping they cross paths with the Joker and the Penguin, who have kidnapped a professor, and end up aiding Batman and Robin, who are searching for the missing professor and his two kidnappers. The superheroes kept Scooby and Shaggy fed in bat milk and cookies, and even took the gang to the secret Batcave, albeit with blindfolds. Still, it was a high honor.

The Three Stooges

The Three Stooges are a classic trio, and we're glad they were included in The New Scooby-Doo Movies' guest star line-up. They were the guests in the series' very first episode. When the gang is stuck in a sand dune after being run off the road by a giant bat, they become involved in helping the Stooges solve the mystery of who's been scaring away people from their theme park.

The Stooges make another appearance in "The Ghost of the Red Baron" when Curly-Joe takes on a crop-dusting job and becomes the target of the ghost of the Red Baron. Funnily enough, Curly-Joe is still learning how to fly via comic book, and when he forgets it, it's Scooby to the rescue, giving Curly-Joe landing instructions when he needs them most.

Don Adams

Don Adams, well-known for playing Maxwell Smart on Get Smart, voiced himself in his appearance in the episode,  "The Exterminator." Adams plays an exterminator in this episode, shown to have an aptitude for the business. He recruits the gang to help him exterminate a house belonging to an actor known for his ability to pull off several different disguises.

Wanting to save his home from being taken by the bank, he utilizes his skills to scare off Don, Scooby and the gang so they can't finish exterminating on behalf of the bank. Don is never deterred, set on doing the job despite the many disguises and the loss of his equipment at certain points.

Sonny & Cher

One of the most well-known famous couples of all time makes an appearance in "The Secret of Shark Island." Hoping to enjoy a second honeymoon, the two break down on the side of the road instead and are rained on, saved by Scooby and the gang who are passing by, and they get a lift to their hotel. The hotel turns out to be dilapidated, and on top of that, haunted by a "shark God", according to the hotel's manager.

Marooned until the roads are clear, Sonny and Cher join the gang in uncovering the mystery and provide plenty of humor in the clash between Sonny's optimism and Cher's more pessimistic point of view.

Jonathan Winters

Jonathan Winters voiced both himself and the character of Maude Frickert in "The Frickert Fracas." The episode showcased his talents as a comedian and ventriloquist, allowing audiences to witness his sense of humor, as well as his use of his different voices and sound effects, in action.

Winters heads out to Maude's farm for a little rest and relaxation and invites Scooby and his buddies along, but it turns out that rest and relaxation just isn't in the cards as there's a villain in the form of a scarecrow and two guys trying to put on a rock concert that has Maude, Jonathan, Scooby and everyone else in a frenzy racing around the farm grounds.

Laurel & Hardy

Laurel and Hardy are on their way to a ski lodge to apply for jobs as bellhops, but unfortunately, have some car trouble on the way up. Scooby and the gang happen upon them and give them a lift, and from then on, it's chaos and mayhem in the best way. Laurel and Hardy are hired immediately given service at the lodge is next to none, as the ghost of Bigfoot has been scaring people away.

Laurel hilariously finds Bigfoot in the medicine cabinet in one scene, but Hardy doesn't believe his friend until Bigfoot's suddenly running around their rooms causing havoc. Given Laurel and Hardy's slapstick comedy, it's no wonder they were selected as guest stars.

Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke is a beloved actor on all accounts; seeing him in animated form, providing his own voice to boot, is no disappointment. The owner of a carnival, Van Dyke isn't having much luck attracting customers due to the ghost of a strongman.

Dick is impressive at being a one-man carnival, entertaining Scooby and the gang, but ends up hiring them to help run his carnival and solve the mystery. Honestly, solving a mystery and getting to attend a carnival owned by Dick Van Dyke is pretty awesome.

The Cast Of Speed Buggy

The Scooby Gang meeting the cast of Speed Buggy in The New Scooby-Doo Movies

Speed Buggy was a fellow Hanna-Barbera cartoon, featuring an orange, talking dune buggy named Speedy and his three friends Mark, Debbie, and Tinker. Scooby and the gang run into Speedy and his friends in "The Weird Winds of Winona", and elect to head to the races together.

However, when the Mystery Machine is in an accident and needs repairs, the Speed Buggy gang stays with them to help repair their van. Stuck in town, both gangs decide to investigate the spooky winds and uncover a plot to drive out the town's residents and gain their land for cheap.

The Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters appeared on the series three times; they were another cartoon by Hanna-Barbera, featuring the real-life players in animated form from the well-known basketball team. The Globetrotters were witty and hilarious, helping the gang with three different capers.

Ghost pirates, sea serpents, and a rival team trying to ruin the Globetrotters' chances of winning a game were on the table in these episodes, making each of the three stand out in their own ways.

Don Knotts

Don Knotts voiced himself in his appearances on the show, in "The Spooky Fog" and "Guess Who's Knott Coming To Dinner?", the latter of which was his first appearance in which he utilized various disguises, and then ultimately claimed to be a detective named Homer searching for the missing Captain Moody.

In "The Spooky Fog", Don Knotts is an officer working in Juneberry, working alongside Sheriff Dandy. The episode is a spoof of The Andy Griffith Showon which Don Knotts played Deputy Barney Fife in the town of Mayberry. Don Knotts was always funny and unpredictable, and definitely a master of disguises.
