NCIS: New Orleans has had some great storylines over the years. While we love the stars of the show, we appreciate the guest stars, too. They add to the storylines, often contributing to the development of the main characters in one way or another.

Sometimes you only see them once, sometimes they have their own story arcs, and sometimes you see them briefly, though they're mentioned often enough that you feel like you know them. In any case, it's fun to see new faces on our favorite shows, so here are the 10 best guest stars on NCIS: New Orleans.

Cristine Rose

Rose plays dying widow Hannah Tarlow in the Season 1 episode, "Chasing Ghosts." She's revealed to be a longtime friend of Loretta's. Her late husband's murder is the reason why Loretta chose to remain in New Orleans, so not only is Hannah important to the storyline, but also to Loretta's background.

The episode gives Loretta the chance to re-examine Hannah's husband's death, and it's discovered the murderer was closer to home than anyone realized: the best friend of Hannah and her husband was responsible for the murder, given he believed Hannah belonged to him, though the murder was accidental. This is a tragic aspect for Hannah, naturally, but at least she was given the answers she'd been seeking.

Adam Rose

Rose gets a shout-out for playing Jesse Neville, a man who was abused as a child and who, as a result, developed a dissociative personality disorder. Meaning, Jesse developed an alternative personality to shield himself from harm.

Once the NCIS team realizes this, they manage to bring out Jesse's "Dr. Hyde" side to discover the whereabouts of a missing girl, and also solve some murders that resemble stories out of a horror anthology, including Dracula and Frankenstein. Rose was convincing and downright scary, which suited the Season 1 Halloween episode perfectly.

Annie Potts

Potts came to New Orleans as Olivia Brody, the mother of Meredith Brody (Zoe McLellan), who was a main cast member for the first two seasons. Olivia is quite the businesswoman. She doesn't show much affection, she's a little more logical and practical than motherly. She does criticize Meredith though, notably by commenting on Meredith's longer hairstyle, saying it's better than Meredith's previous haircut.

She does care for those she employs, as she joins the NCIS team in finding the stolen heart intended for one of her employees. She may not be the typical motherly type, but she does show that she cares in other ways. In any case, it was interesting to meet her and learn more about Meredith by extension.

Clayne Crawford

Cade LaSalle with Chris in NCIS New Orleans

Crawford plays Chris LaSalle's troubled brother, Cade, who has bipolar disorder. We only saw Cade in a few episodes, though his character played a big part in Chris's life and character development. We were as heartbroken as Chris to see Cade struggle in "My Brother's Keeper" when he was seemingly doing just fine, and we watched Chris help Cade out of a jam in which it looked like Cade was guilty of murder.

Cade is fun when he's doing well, but when he hits rock bottom, it's heartbreaking. Chris was killed while trying to solve his brother's murder, so the silver lining is that at least the two brothers are together again.

Amy Rutberg

Rutberg played CIA Agent Megan Sutter. That is, until she was killed in Season 4. Interestingly enough, the show managed to bring her back, and she haunted Pride as sort of an "angel of death", in Rutberg's own words.

She pops up time and again in Season 5, notably in the premiere as she guides him between life and death while Pride fights for his life in the ICU. Hearing his daughter's voice, Pride is drawn back, but it's not the last he sees of his "angel." In any case, Rutberg has an interesting role and character, and it's definitely not something you see on a police procedural every day.

John Livingston

Livingston plays Paul Jenks (aka Baitfish), who became one of Pride's mortal enemies in the show. Baitfish taunts and torments Pride up until the day he dies and causes a lot of pain for the New Orleans team, especially Chris, who lost the love of his life thanks to Baitfish.

No one was sad to see him go, but for a bit he was an interesting adversary, providing a lot of angst and intense storylines, giving the show that much more drama to work with.

Pauley Perrette

Perrette guest-starred as her NCIS character, Abby Sciuto, in a couple of crossover episodes. She's not the only NCIS character to have crossed over, but her character has a special connection to Louisiana, given she's from there and has a brother living in New Orleans. One crossover episode had to do with her brother, first ensuring he hadn't died in a plane crash and then proving he wasn't a criminal.

Abby is always a fun character to watch, and though we miss her dearly, we can still go back and watch episodes from NCIS, and its spin-offs, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans to re-live her best on-screen moments.

Wendie Malick

Malick portrays Sylvia Lund, the mother of Sebastian, one of the main characters. Sylvia is overprotective of her son and was shown to have an affinity for telling embarrassing childhood stories of Sebastian, especially in front of his crush.

Sebastian is kidnapped for his gaming skills in the episode "Escape Plan" while his mother is visiting, and like any mother would, Sylvia fears for her son's life and worries, more so than usual, which is saying a lot considering her anxious nature. Sebastian proves he's capable of taking care of himself, but he'll always need his mother. She and Sebastian share a tendency to babble, especially when they're nervous, so clearly we see where Sebastian gets some of his quirks from.

Stacy Keach

Veteran actor Keach plays Dwayne's father, Cassius Pride. When we first meet Cassius, he's doing time and is secretly communicating with Laurel, Pride's daughter, much to Pride's consternation.

Pride uses his father to get information from the criminal world from time to time, and it's shown that the two have a strained relationship given Cassius's criminal activity as Pride was growing up. Cassius dies protecting his son, and Pride later avenges his death. They may not have always been close, but when it came down to it, they loved and cared for one another, and that's what Pride chooses to reflect on and remember, in the end.

Steven Weber

Weber portrays city councilman (and later the mayor of New Orleans), Douglas Hamilton. Hamilton shares a complicated relationship with Pride for the longest time. Though the two dislike each other, they put their differences aside at the end of the day.

That is until Pride starts digging into Hamilton's plans and discovers Clearwater, a case in which Hamilton planned to flood a portion of New Orleans to build a shipyard. Pride won't stand for that and goes through a lot to ensure it doesn't happen to his city, ending with him arresting the Mayor of New Orleans.
