As one of the most storied video game franchises in the world, it's no surprise that Mortal Kombat keeps making its way to movie screens. While they haven't all been great films, the 2021 release has been an overall hit with fans. That's probably because it didn't shy away from the brutal fighting that made the games infamous from day one.

If Mortal Kombat 2 is released, there are a lot of characters and fight scenes that fans would like to see included in the movie. There were many fighters who didn't make the cut the first time around, and viewers would be excited to see throw down in round two.

Jacqui Briggs Versus Erron Black

Erron Black attacks Jacqui Briggs

Mortal Kombat has been going on so long that the franchise has reached a point the characters' children are starting to get in on the action. Sergeant Jacqueline Sonya "Jacqui" Briggs is Jax's daughter and a formidable warrior in her own right.

A recent addition to the Mortal Kombat franchise, Erron Black is a human mercenary who serves the Outworld throne. He essentially betrayed Earthrealm, and Jaqui should be the one to show him the error of his ways.

Kotal Kahn Versus Shang Tsung

Kotal Kahn beside Shang Tsung

Just because two beings are bad guys doesn't mean they're friends or even allies. That's certainly the case with Kotal Kahn and Shang Tsung. After Shao Kahn betrayed Kotal Kahn, he gave Kotal to Shang Tsung for his horrifying experiments.

Kotal Kahn's story adds a surprising amount of depth to the history of Outworld. And watching him lay a revenge beating on Shang Tsung could be incredibly cathartic for him and for fans.

Sheeva Versus Goro

Sheeva compared to Goro

Ruling over a place like Outworld requires some serious muscle. While Shang Tsung is a feared warrior and sorcerer, there are times when something more overwhelming and intimidating is necessary. That's where Goro comes in.

The master thug of Shao Kahn's army, Goro is a force to be reckoned with. Few can stand up to the Prince of Shokan's rage and power. That's when Sheeva, another Shokan warrior, may appear. Watching them faceoff would be amazing and devastating at the same time.

D'Vorah Versus Lord Raiden

D'Vorah defeats Lord Raiden

For as long as Outworld has being trying to sack Earthrealm, Lord Raiden has been at the forefront of defending it. Raiden is the eternal God of Thunder, making him a powerful ally when fighting Shao Kahn's monstrous forces.

Earthrealm definitely needs friends like Raiden in the face of threats like D'Vorah. A staunch ally of Kotal Kahn, she is an insect-like warrior with fearsome abilities. Earthrealm's forces will definitely need Raiden's help with this one.

Quan Chi Versus Jax Briggs

Jax beats Quan Chi up

Major Jackson "Jax" Briggs is a cybernetically enhanced soldier who has been a big part of the Mortal Kombat franchise since the second game. As such, it only made sense that Jax was a key character in the 2021 film.

One character who didn't appear was Quan Chi, a Netherrealm demon who wields powerful dark magic. As an enemy of both Outworld and Earthrealm, he could easily pop up in a sequel and throw down with Jax.

Baraka Versus Sonya Blade

Sonya Blade fires a blast at Baraka

Like Jax, Baraka made his debut in Mortal Kombat II. Unlike Jax, he did so as a villain. He is the general of the Tarkatan Horde and is fiercely loyal to Shao Kahn. On top of that, Baraka might be the most savage and brutal warrior in the franchise.

As a key leader in the fight against Shao Kahn and in defense of Earthrealm, it seems incredibly likely that Sonya Blade's path will cross Baraka's. Who comes out on top of that fight remains to be seen.

Cyrax Versus Sub-Zero

Cyrax and Sub-Zero face off

When the Lin Kuei decided to move away from old-school flesh and blood ninjas, they created a line of cybernetically enhanced ninjas. The standout member of the group is Cyrax, who tried to rebel against his programming and do the right thing.

If he was ever to pop up in a Mortal Kombat movie while still under the thrall of the Lin Kuei, he would absolutely run into Sub-Zero. A big part of Cyrax's mission was to kill Sub-Zero, and the Lin Kuei never likes to leave a job incomplete.

Kitana Versus Mileena

Mileena stares down Kitana

Shang Tsung's experiments have resulted in some savage warriors being added to Shao Kahn's forces. One of those warriors is Mileena, the result of Tsung creating a Tarkatan and Edenian hybrid.

More than that, Mileena is also a clone of Kitana, the Princess of Outworld and a former ally of Shao Kahn. It would be a shock to not see Kitana in the sequels, and a confrontation with Mileena should be a priority.

Liu Kang Versus Shao Kahn

Liu Kang squares off with Shao Kahn

Shao Kahn might not have been an active character in the 2021 Mortal Kombat film but he his presence was certainly felt. It's hard to fight the evil of Outworld without Shao Kahn coming up in some capacity.

Liu Kang is Earthrealm's greatest defender so a faceoff with Shao Kahn feels inevitable at some point. However it goes down, this could end up being the biggest fight in the movie franchise.

Johnny Cage Versus Scorpion

Johnny Cage Vs. The Scorpion

While there were a lot of names missing from the first film, Johnny Cage was the one who was the most conspicuous by his absence. Fans were left wondering how one of the original fighters did not make the cut for the movie.

Hopefully, Johnny will make his debut in the next movie. If he does, it would be fantastic to see him take on Scorpion. That's a matchup that can only lead to a barn burner of a fight.
