Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands is rightfully considered to be one of the best fantasy-romance movies ever made thanks to Johnny Depp's and Winona Ryder's performances, the unique and well-written story, the magical music of Danny Elfman, and Tim Burton's unmatched direction.

Starring Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench, and Johnny Depp among others, Lasse Hallstrom's Chocolat was a box office success and received multiple nominations at major awards, including the Best Picture Academy Award.
Based on the novel of the same name, it follows a woman named Vianne Rocher who arrives into a French village with her six-year-old daughter. Though the villagers are initially hostile, they start changing as Vianne opens a chocolaterie and makes them see life from a new perspective.
The Shape Of Water (2017)
Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water made waves with its critical and commercial success that led the movie to being nominated for multiple awards and to win Best Picture and Best Director at the Academy Awards.
Set in 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, it tells the story of a mute cleaner working at a high-security government laboratory. A strange humanoid amphibian creature is brought in and the woman starts falling in love with it.
Corpse Bride (2005)
One of Tim Burton's stop-motion creations, Corpse Bride, was a success at the box office and with critics and would go on to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. With the lead characters voiced by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, its haunting atmosphere was enhanced by Danny Elfman's beautiful music.
Set in a fictional Victorian village in England, it follows a shy groom who, while practicing his wedding vows, accidentally summons a deceased bride who now believes that he has married her.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010)
Every Edgar Wright movie has its own funky charm and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is no different. Though it underperformed at the box office, it received positive reviews from critics and went on to become a modern classic.
Based on the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim, it follows the eponymous protagonist who is a slacker musician training with his band to take part in a competition that would lend them a record deal. Along the way, he falls in love with a girl whose exes he must now fight to be able to date her.

The Illusionist (2006)
Though somewhat forgotten, The Illusionist was a success at the time of its release and a worthy addition to Edward Norton's filmography.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004)
One of Charlie Kaufman's best works, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet among others and was a success both at the box office and with critics. No wonder that Kaufman went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and Winslet received a nomination as Best Actress.
The story follows a couple who decide to erase memories of each other after being frustrated with their relationship. It is told in a non-linear narrative allowing the audience to get a glimpse of the timeline of the couple's relationship.
