One of the strongest pocket monster types available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Dragon, an elemental type capable of carrying Trainers through the highest tiers of Tera Raid Battles. Of course, just because an individual has a high-level Dragon-type Pokémon does not mean they can inherently steamroll their opponents in battle. Instead, there are specific pocket monsters that many in the community might deem objectively stronger than others in their league based on fundamental characteristics, namely stats. While one fan might argue that their favorite Dragon-type pocket monster looks better than another, the numbers do not lie regarding which Pokémon is superior based on stats.

Unsurprisingly, the top-two best Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, are the "box" Legendaries — Koraidon and Miraidon. Both are incredibly fast, sharing a Speed of 135. In addition, Koraidon excels in Attack and Defense, while Miraidon has superior Special Attack and Special Defense. Needless to say, few can stand through a match against these two Legendary Dragons. The next on the list would be Garchomp, the final Ground- and Dragon-type evolution form of the Gible family. For many titles in the franchise, Garchomp has always been a staple powerhouse for combat.

Koraidon and Miraidon in Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet

According to Game8, the next best Dragon-type pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would be Goodra, the final form of the Goomy family. While the Pokémon might look harmless, Goodra can both take a beating and give one. In addition, this Dragon-type creature boasts higher a Special Defense of 150, which is higher than almost every pocket monster, including Koraidon and Miraidon. Next on the list is Salamence, the final Flying- and Dragon-type evolution of the Bagon family. Like Garchomp, Trainers have always found Salamence to be a worthy combatant in various situations throughout the Pokémon series, and Scarlet and Violet are no exception.

Dragapult is another excellent choice in the Dragon-type department in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, featuring high Speed and Attack for bringing down opponents with ease. Finally, Baxcalibur is a Dragon- and Ice-type beast that offers a few frosty attacks to counter certain foes, but the pocket monster's superior HP of 115 and exceptionally high Attack of 145 will make many Trainers seek this Pokémon out. But, of course, just because players have yet to acquire any of the seven Dragon-type monsters mentioned above does not mean they cannot get their hands on other excellent picks like Hydreigon, Dragonite, Haxorus, or Roaring Moon, the Paradox Salamence in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
