Tim Burton directed a 1999 version of the legendary novel "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washing Irving that tells the story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. Johnny Depp stars as Crane in the Burton adaptation that is pretty faithful to the original work.

Crimson Peak (2015)

Crimson Peak is a gothic supernatural tale about a young woman (Mia Wasikowska) who marries a mysterious yet charming man (Tom Hiddleston) and moves into his mansion after their marriage. When she moves into the estate, she begins to be haunted by ghostly visions and becomes determined to figure out the dark secrets of the family mansion.

Guillermo del Toro directed this chilling tale that has a similar feeling to Sleepy Hollow with its gothic setting, supernatural creatures, beautiful set design and costumes, and moments of horror.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Edward Scissorhands is another Tim Burton-directed movie that stars Johnny Depp and has a fantastical central plot. A scientist (Vincent Price) creates a gentle and affectionate human being (Depp), but he dies before he can finish, leaving him with scissors for hands.

Edward is found by an Avon salesperson (Dianne Wiest) who decides to bring him home to her suburban life and family. Although it's a different location than Sleepy Hollow, Depp portrays an outcast character who just wants to help people in a fantasy world.

Interview With a Vampire is based on the Anne Rice novel of the same name that follows a story of a man (Brad Pitt) who was born in the 18th century and turned into a vampire by Lestat (Tom Cruise) and tells his story to a modern-day biographer (Christian Slater).

Like Sleepy Hollow, Interview With a Vampire takes place in a similar time period in a world where some dangerous and some friendly supernatural creatures exist.

The Witch (2015)

The Witch is another supernatural horror movie that takes place about a century before Sleepy Hollow takes place. Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy) is blamed for the disappearance of her baby brother and the disappearance is the catalyst for a witch hunt when Thomasin is accused of witchcraft.

The Witch is a creative slow burn horror movie period piece with supernatural elements, making it an enjoyable watch for any Sleepy Hollow fan.

Snow White And The Huntsman (2012)

Snow White and the Huntsman is more true to the Grimm Brothers' original fairy tales and is much darker than any Disney adaptation. Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) has married and murdered her way into ruling the kingdom and is obsessed with maintaining her beauty and becoming immortal.

She hires the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to track down and kill Snow White (Kristen Stewart) so she can consume her heart and become immortal. The dark fantasy, dangerous supernatural creatures, and the plot of hunting are similar to Sleepy Hollow.

Horns (2013)

Horns is another supernatural thriller that also brings in elements of comedy and romance similar to Sleepy Hollow. The movie centers on a man (Daniel Radcliffe) who is accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Out of nowhere, he wakes up with horns and supernatural powers, so he decides to hunt down the real killer to get revenge and clear his name.

The Brothers Grimm (2005)

The Brothers Grimm follows the two brothers (Heath Ledger, Matt Damon) who travel from town to town scamming people into believing that they're protecting them from demons and other supernatural creatures.

People pay them to get rid of ghosts and other evils they believe are haunting them. The brothers take on a case to solve the disappearance of several girls from the same village and quickly realize that magic in their world just might be real, making this a similar dark supernatural thriller like Sleepy Hollow.

Beetlejuice (1988)

Beetlejuice is another Tim Burton-directed movie with a fantastical setting and ghostly characters that will remind audiences of Sleepy Hollow. Beetlejuice follows a newly deceased couple (Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis) who still lives in their house as ghosts when a new family moves in.

Maleficent (2014)

Maleficent is another movie that takes a darker and more sinister look at a character who once appeared in Disney animated movie. Although this adaptation is still in the Disney family, the live-action version focuses on the villain Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

The dark fantasy takes a closer and more sympathetic look at the villain who only wanted to protect her kingdom and her people, but was betrayed. The existence of magic and the darker fantasy nature of the movie make it similar to Sleepy Hollow.

Constantine (2005)

Constantine focuses on a fantastical and supernatural world, filled with angels and demons, and John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) is stuck in between the two worlds of fantasy and reality.

Constantine hunts demons as he tries to garner enough goodwill to save his soul, and like Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow, he seems to be the only person who can handle the situation at hand as he hunts demons, similar to how Crane hunts the Headless Horseman.
