When a young man named Casey (Jesse Eisenberg) gets attacked on the street, he decides to sign up for karate classes at the local studio. After getting the hang of it, Casey realizes he can protect himself and has a new sense of self-confidence.
But things take a turn when he realizes that the classes become more mysterious and sinister when the sun goes down. The Art of Self-Defense heavily relies on the "dark" in the dark comedy but still manages to throw in a laugh here and there.
Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark: 6.6 (1988)
Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) isn't like the locals of Fallwell, Massachusetts, so when she arrives to collect the inheritance money her great-aunt Morgana left her, she stuns the locals. She gets her shot running with a different crowd when she meets the new guy, Jason Dean (Christian Slater).
What starts as a harmless prank turns dark when Jason targets one of the Heathers. After killing Heather Chandler (Kim Walker), Veronica realizes how dangerous Jason can be. From this point on, Jason is set on ruining the lives of the rich and popular, and Veronica doesn't know how to end the blood bath he's created.
Deadpool 2: 7.7 (2018)
Deadpool 2 continues with the story of Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) after he loses the love of his life, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin).
