Pokémon may have started with only 150 pocket monsters to collect, but now there are over 700 with more added with each new installment in the series. With each new addition, the developers at Nintendo seem to be attempting to outdo themselves in how cute they can make each Pokémon.

Even the ugliest of Pokémon are adorable in their own way. With so many Pokémon to sort through, this list will focus solely on the electric types that have given audiences' hearts a jolt. This list will take into action both the video games and the ongoing anime series.

Pincurchin

A Pincurchin in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pincurchin is one of the cuter Pokémon released with the game. According to its entry in the Pokedex, this Pokémon may be a bottom feeder, but it still manages to shine through with its cuteness. Its sad-looking eyes inspire a protective instinct that makes audiences want to give it a big hug. However, this impulse may not be smart, thanks to the electric spines sprouting from the creature's back.

Dedenne

A mouse Pokémon that draws clear inspiration from the series' mascot, Dedenne is another adorable addition to the Pokémon roster. Dedenne has a more squat and chubby design than similar Pokemon. It also has cute whiskers coming out of its cheeks that really emphasize the mouse inspiration for the Pokémon. The only thing holding Dedenne back is that its design is somewhat derivative of another Pokémon on the list.

Yamper

Another addition from Sword and Shield, Yamper automatic gets cuteness points for being the "puppy Pokémon" in the Pokedex. Like with any puppy, Yamper is extremely adorable and quickly becomes a fan-favorite thanks to its cute design.

Yamper's character design shows clear inspiration from the corgi breed of dogs, with its long and squat body. Such a design is perfect for a princess or even a queen. Its introduction in the anime as Professor Cerise's companion automatically gave it a special place in viewer's hearts.

Morpeko

This Pokémon is unique not just for its cuteness but also for its ability. A rodent Pokémon, Morpeko has the chubby qualities that make audiences want to hold it for hours on end. Just be sure to feed it. If Morpeko becomes too hungry, it will switch to its Hangry form. Becoming more aggressive and switching to a Dark-type, Morpeko requires an attentive trainer. This Bruce Banner and Hulk danger is a small price to pay for a Pokémon so adorable and dual typed, however.

Shinx

Like with Yamper, Shinx has a lead on the competition thanks to being based on an already cute animal. Seeing clear inspiration from big cats like lions and leopards, Shinx is the adorable baby version of these fearsome creatures. It may not look like an electric type, but it definitely has the abilities. Of particular note is the huge ears that the Pokémon sports give it an extra bit of cuteness for audiences. Shinx also has an interesting color plate that separates it from other Pokémon.

Pikachu

The undeniable face of the franchise, Pikachu, has undergone numerous changes in the series decade-long history. Being with Ash since the beginning, Pickachu has a history no other Pokémon can match. Its entire design is adorable, and the voice that has become synonymous with the Pokémon will melt any fan's heart.

Pichu

The lesser evolved form of Pickachu, Pichu, comes ahead of its older counterpart because of the cuteness inherent to the young. Pichu is essentially the younger, cuter little sibling to the famous Pikachu. First introduced in the game's second generation, Pichu instantly captured the hearts of fans with its adorable little features. Its little face and big ears relative to its body make for a combination so lovable that it has made it a classic.

Plusle/Minun

These two Pokémon are grouped because they are both equally cute, and they are essentially color-swapped versions of the same design. Their big ears and unique design bring them really far in this list. What really brings these two Pokémon to the penultimate spot is the duo relationship seen in the anime. The friendship seen in the TV show and movies makes for such cute watching.

Pachirisu

This squirrel Pokémon is almost too cute to imagine. The huge tail is the first thing fans will notice because it is almost twice the size of the Pokémon. Its face and stubby arms further increase its appeal. The cherry on top of all this cuteness is the way it uses its tail to sleep. Its happy attitude mixed with its adorable character design will make fans crave to have both one in-game and several plushies for their collection.

Emolga

Emolga takes everything from the Pokémon cuteness formula and cranks it up to eleven. It has a small size, a large face, and huge ears that define being cute. What really brings Emolga over the top is its ability to fly thanks to the little underarm wings, making it also one of the better dual-type Pokémon. The sheer amount of cute this Pokémon brings inspired numerous memes from fans who wanted to show their love for the new Pokemon. All of these factors make Emolga the cutest electric type the game has to offer.
