Ranging from superheroes to thrillers, animation to action, drama to comedy, the year had it all. The blessed year was especially rewarding for the fanatics of the comedy genre, though. Today, we shall be sharing with you ten best comedy movies of 2019, according to IMDb.

Ready Or Not - 6.8

Samara Weaving in Ready or Not

American horror comedy movie Ready Or Not was directed by Matt Bettinelli Olpin and Tyler Gillett. This black comedy is not only sinister and mysterious but hilariously funny at the same time. The Le Domas clan is insanely wealthy and lives in a creepy house. The children have long moved out, but fate has something else in mind for them.

One of the children, Alex, decides to host his wedding with the protagonist Grace at his family's house and thus starts this gory tale of a cat-and-mouse chase built on religious imagery at its core. If you have ever been mad at something, or, in general don't like how this world works, this is the movie for you.

Long Shot - 6.9

Director-actor duo of the gem 50/50, Jonathan Levine and Seth Rogen have done it again with Long Shot. An idealistic journalist Fred meets his childhood crush and (his) babysitter again in a charity event. Sparks fly and soon enough, they fall for each other. Charlotte, the lady who is pretty much out of Fred’s league decides to run for president and hires the troublemaker Fred as her writer.

This hilarious movie is not your regular romantic comedy. It comes with a special twist too.

Shazam - 7.1

Shazam faces Sivana with the other heroes in Shazam!

Action comedy Shazam is a delicious concoction of DC Comics superhero origin story, superb action, magic, and hilarious comedy. The lead protagonist is portrayed by Zachary Levi and the movie was directed by David Sandberg.

An abandoned teenager is chosen by a powerful ancient wizard Shazam and gets a ton of new superpowers along with a brand new enemy. The twist is that these superpowers also turn the teenage boy into an adult. You need to watch it to truly experience its magic.

It has a heavy dosage of coming-of-age comedy, which is largely relatable to all age groups, and manages to hit the sweet spot for adults too. Jojo Rabbit - 8.0

Jojo and Hitler in Jojo Rabbit

Dramedy Jojo Rabbit is based on the book Caging Skies. This funny yet touching movie revolves around a young German boy living in Nazi Germany, amidst the second World War. The least weird thing about the movie is that he has an imaginary friend. But what is a little weird for modern audiences is that he calls him Adolf Hitler, portrayed by the director Taika Waititi. This Hitler is nothing like the real one was.

Though he still sports his signature uniform and a crisp mustache, this new version is rather the cheerful, friendly version that the boy, Jojo, incorrectly perceives the dictator to be. One day, Jojo discovers that his mother is hiding a Jewish person in their house. The aftermath forms the rest of the story.

Knives Out - 8

Daniel Craig stars in Knives Outwhich has established its own cult following worldwide. This crazy comedy is heavily spiced with tropes of a modern whodunnit with a murder mystery at the core of it, which makes it so much more delightful.

In the movie, a crime novelist, Harlan Thrombey, has died mysteriously and a famous detective, Benoit Blanc (Craig), is investigating the death. Everyone in the dead Thrombey's dysfunctional family is a suspect. How Blanc solves the mystery is the rest of the story. The movie garnered huge critical acclaim and was nominated for multiple prestigious awards.
