Studio Ghibli has many memorable films, and among them Kiki's Delivery Service. In the film, as the titular witch Kiki went out into the world and found her way, she came across many memorable characters that helped her in various ways.
Osono gave Kiki a home and an opportunity to start a business, and Ursula helped Kiki overcome her struggles and regain her confidence and her powers. Jiji was a good friend to Kiki, always there to listen and offer up one of his many funny comments. Kiki's character was also memorable given her zest for life and her cheerful nature. The film's characters were all unique and memorable in their own ways, and audiences loved each of them.
Jeff
Jiji wasn't too thrilled to be left behind with Ket while Kiki searched for the real toy cat, but as it turns out, there wasn't too much to worry about. Jeff, Ket's elderly dog, did a marvelous job of looking after Jiji and keeping him safe until Kiki returned. He even helped Jiji get out so he could return to Kiki, and took the toy cat back inside for her. He's a kind and smart dog, and Jiji and Kiki certainly appreciated his help.
Kiki's Parents
Kiki is only thirteen, but her parents trust her wholeheartedly to go out in the world on her own. Kiki's journey surely would have been difficult without the unconditional love and support her parents showed her; it's a good thing she didn't get Al Bundy for a dad, given his insults! Instead, her parents let her know that she has a home she can always come back to, and that they are always there if she needs them. It's easy to see where Kiki gets her kindness and positivity from!
Barsa
Barsa is a kind and lively lady that Kiki meets when she goes to Madame's home to pick up a package to deliver. Barsa clearly loves witches and even pretended to fly on Kiki's broom. She is a friend in addition to an employee to Madame, and she quickly befriended Kiki as well.
Barsa was a funny and loveable character from moment one, and like Tombo, she seemed to share a keen interest in aviation given her enjoyment of the airship on TV.
Osono's Husband
A man of few words, Osono's husband is a hard worker and kind man. He takes care of his wife, and comes to care for Kiki and Jiji as well. He even made them a beautiful logo out of bread and put it in the bakery's window to advertise Kiki's new business, which Kiki absolutely loved given her joyous reaction and the big hug she gave him when she saw it. He might not say much, but actions certainly speak louder than words, especially in his case, and audiences definitely love him.
Tombo
Tombo has a fascination for anything that can fly, given his own desire to fly someday. He's immediately interested in Kiki when he sees her fly into town, and though he doesn't make the best first impression on her, the two gradually become good friends. Tombo takes Kiki out for a fun and memorable ride and they end up at the beach, where they have a nice, leisurely chat up until the other kids showed up. Tombo showed Kiki how to just have fun and be a kid, and enjoy the simple things. Kiki got her confidence, and her powers, back at the perfect time given she was able to save Tombo before it was too late.
Madame
Madame was certainly a memorable customer. She was willing to pay Kiki for her time, even though her potpie wasn't quite ready to be delivered. However, Kiki insists that she can't take the money without doing something, so she helps the Madame cook the potpie and even delivers it in the rain to the Madame's very ungrateful granddaughter.
Madame was very kind to Kiki, and appreciated Kiki's help so much she later made a cake for Kiki, and offered to bake her another for her future birthday, which meant a lot to the young witch.
Kiki
Kiki is incredibly sweet, full of life, cheerful, and seeks opportunity everywhere, not unlike Kimmy Schmidt, who had plenty of memorable quotes in her hit show, just as Kiki did in this film. She is also brave, as she is a young witch and leaves home for the first time to train. She has faith and is loyal to everyone around her, and she goes above and beyond the call of duty to make her deliveries, even in the midst of a terrible rainstorm. Kiki even became a hero in her new town when she saved Tombo's life when the airship was blown off course. Audiences love watching Kiki coming into her own as she learns and discovers; even in her worst moment, Kiki was open to new experiences in order to regain her powers.
Jiji
Jiji is funny and sarcastic, much like Chandler Bing on Friends. He's also one to keep Kiki on the safe side so to speak, urging her to take her mother's broom on their journey instead of the one she'd just made, and trying to keep her out of the rain when she was making her deliveries. Like SpongeBob and Patrick, Jiji and Kiki are rarely without one another. Jiji is a good friend; he listens to Kiki and supports her, even if he's not entirely into what she's doing, like when he posed as a toy cat while Kiki searched for the real one. Nonetheless, Jiji is a wonderful companion, and audiences would certainly love to bring Jiji along on their own adventures.
Osono
Kiki meets Osono at the perfect time, and offers to return a pacifier to one of Osono's customers. This leads to everything Kiki needed: an opportunity in a new city. Osono was the first person to show Kiki real kindness in Kiki's new chosen city, as she offered a spare room, as well as the use of her phone and some other perks, in exchange for Kiki to help her out at the bakery from time to time.
Osono was very supportive of Kiki and gave her everything she needed to get started, and even took care of her when she came down with a terrible cold after being out in the rain.
Ursula
When Kiki loses a toy cat on her first delivery job, she goes back to look for it in the forest and meets Ursula, who lives in a nearby log cabin. Ursula repairs the toy cat in exchange for Kiki washing her floors, beginning the start of their friendship. Ursula later seeks out Kiki in town, and upon hearing that Kiki's struggling with her powers, offers up rest and relaxation at her cabin. It's exactly what Kiki needs, as Ursula relates her own experience of artist's block and suggests that Kiki just needs a break and then her powers will return. Having someone tell her it would be okay and to relate to meant the world to Kiki, and getting to see Ursula's beautiful painting was certainly a bonus.
