Babysitting is something that has been used within the world of comedy for a long time, mainly because everybody can relate to it. People can view it from the perspective of the children and the adult involved, and that leads to the possibility of lots of comedy when the movie is well written and acted.

There have been some poor babysitting movies in the past, but there have also been some enjoyable ones that have touched on some great emotions all while bringing humor. Sometimes it is the babysitters themselves that make the movie, whereas other times it's a combination involving the kids, but it has created some tremendous movies over time regardless.

The Pacifier (2005) - 5.6

The big comedic elements of this movie come from the fact that Vin Diesel is the man in the babysitting world here as a Navy SEAL. He is given a different type of mission when he has to become a babysitter, looking after five children when their father passes away.

He brings classic Navy SEAL training into the babysitting world, which is something unlike any other movie and that helps to make this a lot of fun to watch. When their father's experiment becomes an interest to others though, Vin Diesel's character has to step up and showcase more of his classic SEAL abilities.

Daddy Day Care (2003) - 5.6

When Charlie and Phil end up being let go from their jobs, they make the decision to go all-in on being fathers by being stay-at-home dads. However, they then take it a step further by going on to open a day-care center, taking on more than just their own children.

Seeing the two men attempt to do everything in their power to look after the children and entertain them, there's a lot of comedy to be found, with Eddie Murphy, in particular, bringing some fantastic moments.

The Sitter (2011) - 5.7

2011's The Sitter is a hilarious movie that brings a lot of chaos throughout it. When Jonah Hill's character Noah reluctantly agrees to babysit three children so his mother can have a night out, he doesn't realize that it would get in the way of a potentially memorable night with the girl of his dreams.

This sets off a chain of events where he takes the children, who all have their own problems, on a road trip. This just so happens to feature drugs, being chased by a gang, and having the children fight an MMA star. There's a lot of comedy, but also some really touching moments where Noah actually helps the children deal with their issues.

The Nanny Diaries (2007) - 6.2

Audiences get to see Scarlett Johansson as the babysitter in this movie when her character, Annie makes the decision to go and become a nanny. After graduating college, her next step sees her working for a wealthy family, which initially seems like a dream job, but it ends up being harder work.

There's a lot of comedy in this as she deals with a spoiled child and she tries to do her best to keep up with the family demands. Meanwhile, she also gets to start a new romance, as she meets a new man in embarrassing ways which just so happens to be played by her fellow MCU star, Chris Evans.

The Babysitter (2017) - 6.3

2017's The Babysitter is one of the more modern movies in this genre, blending horror and comedy together in a fresh manner. Cole fancies his babysitter, but when he ends up staying up to see what she does when he goes to bed, Cole learns that she is actually part of a cult.

Murdering someone in his living room, Cole then has to try and stay alive while the cult looks to try and catch him. The mixture of horror and jump scares with genuine comedy is something that works well in this movie, which helps it to be a lot of fun.

Nanny McPhee (2005) - 6.6

Nanny McPhee brings some magic to the world of babysitting movies as she arrives to help improve the behavior of seven children who are out of control. They provide a lot of humor within the movie, while Nanny McPhee's mixture of strictness and kindness works well.

The magic is interesting to see, especially with Nanny McPhee's physical appearance changing as the children begin to improve their behavior. It's a movie that the entire family can enjoy and is one of the most impressive babysitting movies of all time.

Adventures In Babysitting (1987) - 6.9

1987's Adventures In Babysitting is a classic comedy and one that, as the title suggests, brings a lot of adventure into the babysitting world. This movie sees a girl named Chris end up deciding to babysit, but things don't go to plan.

Instead, she ends up on a wild adventure throughout the city when she and the children end up stranded there. With some serious danger being around every corner, this movie ends up being a blast.

Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) - 7.0

This is a classic comedy and is a perfect example of how talented Robin Williams was as an actor. He plays Daniel and Mrs. Doubtfire in this movie, making up the role of the female housekeeper in a bid to still see his children regularly after divorcing his wife.

It showcases a father's love at its best, which is heartwarming to watch, yet at the same time seeing him try to disguise his identity and not reveal the whole situation brings some hilarious moments.

Uncle Buck (1989) - 7.0

Uncle Buck is a classic babysitting movie that brings both verbal and physical comedy. When Buck ends up having to look after his brother's children, his life is completely changed as he goes from being a bachelor to someone who has to look after others.

The children all have different personalities and don't make life easy for Buck. However, while there's a lot of comedy in this one, it can also be heartwarming at points as well with Buck learning to get to know the children.

Mary Poppins (1964) - 7.8

This musical is a Disney classic that has stood the test of time and remains as popular today as it was upon its original release. While the songs are a big part of this story, there's tons of comedy place into this with the big personalities of all the characters coming out to play.

Mary Poppins comes in at the right time to help the Banks family, bringing her charm and authority to help bring them all together. She brings imagination and adventure, but in the midst of all that is a lovely story about a family growing and showing more love to each other.
