25 Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022)

The fourth movie in the Hotel Transylvania franchise went straight to streaming as an Amazon Prime Video release but it still delivers a lot of family friendly laughs. The movie follows Dracula and his son-in-law Johnny who both undergo incredible transformations, turning Johnny into a monster and Dracula into a human. They then must race to undo the transformation before they are stuck like this forever. While the movie is unfortunately the first without Adam Sandler back as Dracula, the fun voice cast and entertaining premise make for a great comedy the whole family can enjoy together.

24 Don’t Make Me Go (2022)

Road trip adventures have made for some great entries in the comedy genre and Don’t Make Me Go may be an undiscovered treasure of the subgenre. John Cho stars as a man who discovers that he has a terminal illness and sets out on a road trip with his reluctant daughter (Mia Isaac) to reunite her with her estranged mother. As the premise suggests, there is a lot of sadness mixed in with the humor, but there are a lot of laughs coming from the father’s attempts to teach his daughter life lessons along the way. Cho and Isaac give great performances that elevate the story.

23 My Best Friend's Exorcism (2022)

The blend of horror and comedy is often a tricky combination to pull off effectively. However, one underrated entry in the genre is My Best Friend’s Exorcism. Based on the novel of the same name, the wacky supernatural story is set in the 1980s and follows two high school girls whose friendship is put to the test when one of them is possessed by a demon. The movie has a lot of fun with the tropes of the genre as well as the 80s setting. But the real heart of the movie is the story of friendship which is done well with some talented young actors.

22 The People We Hate At The Wedding (2022)

Wedding comedy movies seem to be a big source of laughs for audiences. One such movie that fans may have overlooked on Prime Video is The People We Hate at the Wedding. Kristen Bell and Ben Platt star as siblings reluctantly attending the wedding of their half-sister when old tensions start to rise. Bell and Platt strike a nice balance between being the self-centered and obnoxious leads while still being fun and likable. The result is a solid comedy that is further elevated by a strong ensemble which includes Oscar winner Allison Janney.

Sometimes an outlandish premise is enough reason to check out a comedy. My Fake Boyfriend is the story of a young man who tries to rid himself of his annoying ex by creating a fake boyfriend online. However, the plan backfires when he meets someone new and finds that breaking up with his fake boyfriend is harder to do. The movie leans into the silly concept but keeps itself from falling too deep thanks to a funny script and a solid cast of young stars including Cole Sprouse, Sarah Hyland, and Keiynan Lonsdale in the lead role.

20 Die Hart (2023)

Kevin Hart is one of the hardest working comedic actors in movies, but it is still surprising that he managed to make an Amazon Prime Video comedy that slipped under the radar for many people. Die Hart finds the multi-talented star playing a fictionalized version of himself on a quest to become an action star only to find himself mixed up in a real life-and-death situation. While the movie falls short of being as funny as Tropic Thunder with a similar premise, Die Hart benefits from Hart's committed performance as well as a star-studded supporting cast that includes Nathalie Emmanuel, Josh Hartnett, and John Travolta.

19 Shotgun Wedding (2022)

The return of Jennifer Lopez to the rom-com genre is a welcome sight for many fans even if Shotgun Wedding isn't on par with some of her other entries into the genre. Lopez stars alongside Josh Duhamel as a couple who gathers their respective families for their destination wedding only for the guests to be taken hostage leaving the bride and groom to save the day. Lopez is in excellent form in both the action role and the goofy comedic aspects. However, Shotgun Wedding's Jennifer Coolidge steals the show with another comedic gem of a performance.

18 My Spy (2020)

Perhaps one of Dave Bautista's best movies so far, My Spy has the actor following in Jackie Chan, Vin Diesel, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's footsteps by taking down bad guys with a kid by his side. In My Spy, Bautista plays JJ, a CIA operative sent to surveil a middle-class family. Unfortunately for JJ, he's saddled with the family's youngest: a 9-year-old girl named Sophie (Chloe Coleman, Big Little Lies) who gets on his nerves just as much as whizzing bullets.

17 Somebody I Used To Know (2023)

It is always fun to see a rom-com take a unique approach and deliver something fresh in the genre. Such is the case with the underseen Somebody I Used to Know which stars Alison Brie as a woman who reunites with her ex (Jay Ellis) while visiting her hometown and begins to see his new girlfriend Cassidy (Kiersey Clemons) as the girl she used to be. Written by Brie and Dave Franco (who also directs the movie) the rom-com has an interesting message that sets itself apart while still delivering laughs and a strong supporting cast which includes a Community reunion with Brie and Danny Pudi.

16 Jolt (2021)

While not quite one of Kate Beckinsale's best films, Jolt is a lot of fun and a fine addition to the actor's stable of action projects. Furthermore, the film also works as an effective comedy along with enjoyable action. Beckinsale portrays Lindy Lewis, an ex-bouncer with intermittent explosive disorder, which forces her to burst into a violent rage when triggered just the right way. After a date she liked gets murdered, Lewis goes on a rampage to find the identity of the killer, but she may not feel safe with what she finds.

Sci-fi comedies are a rare occurrence and it is even rarer to see them pulled off well. The recent Robots attempts to blend some high-concept ideas with a lot of laughs and largely pulls it off. The movie is set in the future in which robot doppelgångers are used to fill in for people in social situations. Shailene Woodley and Jack Whitehall play two people whose robots fall for each other and run off, forcing them to go retrieve them. The premise is perhaps more interesting than the final product but there are some big laughs and fun ideas throughout.

Now, Brittany takes it upon herself to change things for the better, and she begins training to run the New York City Marathon.

13 Troop Zero (2019)

Grace stars as Christmas Flint, the outcast within her group of girls who spends most of her time dreaming of making it with NASA. Flint is given the opportunity to reach for her dreams when she enters a competition with the Birdie Scouts, a girl scout troop with whom she never saw herself affiliated.

12 Red, White & Royal Blue (2023)

Mixing an LGBTQ+ love story with a royal romance makes for a very intriguing rom-com for modern audiences. Red, White & Royal Blue is based on a book which follows the son of the President of the United States and a British prince who must set aside their public rivalry to strengthen the relationship between their countries. However, as they spend more time together, they develop stronger feelings. The setting makes for a unique and exciting romance in which two people in the public eye find a kinship that comes with its own dilemmas. However, the movie also has a lot of fun playing with the sitcom elements of the premise.

11 The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things (2021)

For the most part, The Map of Tiny Perfect Things is a solid but under-the-radar romantic film that took advantage of a trope recently employed by other genre films such as Happy Death Day and the Hulu film Palm Springs. Bolstered by two leads with palpable chemistry, the movie is never anything less than charming. The film follows Kathryn Newton's Margaret and Kyle Allen's Mark, two teens who fall in love while they're stuck in a time loop.

10 I Want You Back (2022)

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Charlie Day and Bob's Burgers' Jenny Slate teamed their unique comedic voices for one of Amazon's best original films: I Want You Back. The charming rom-com follows Jenny Slate's Emma and Charlie Day's Peter, two people in their 30s who've come out of relatively long-term relationships. Now, their exes' have each found their next love, and Emma and Peter team up to prove to their exes that leaving them was a big mistake. However, the two may find a solution to their dilemma in one another's arms.

9 Late Night (2019)

Along with creating acclaimed shows like The Mindy Project and Never Have I Ever, Mindy Kaling also wrote the fun comedy Late Night. Kaling plays a comedy writer who becomes the first female writer to join a late night program hosted by a trailblazing host (Emma Thompson). The behind-the-scenes look at the entertainment world is always fun and Late Night finds a lot of excitement with the fast-paced nature of such a program. Kaling and Thompson also make for an unexpectedly great comedic duo who carry the movie with their chemistry.

8 Don't Worry He Won't Get Far On Foot (2018)

Though he is one of the most acclaimed actors in Hollywood today, there are still some Joaquin Phoenix movies fans probably forgot about, including Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot. From acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Zant, the comedy is based on the memoir of John Callahan, an alcoholic cartoonish who finds his life changed when he is partially paralyzed. Despite the heavy subject matter, the movie deals with it is an honest way which includes a lot of humor. There is also a terrific supporting cast that includes Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara, and Jack Black.

7 Catherine Called Birdy (2022)

It is very rare for a medieval comedy to reach the mainstream but Catherine Called Birdy is one underseen gem that deserves to be sought out. The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey gives a winning performance in the lead role as a teenage girl who is navigating her formative years while avoiding the suitors her father has arranged for her. Written and directed by Lena Dunham, the movie brings a lot of humor and relatability to this coming-of-age story while still making it a fun period adventure as well.

6 Coming 2 America (2021)

Just because Coming 2 America doesn't hold a candle to the impact of the original film doesn't mean the Eddie Murphy sequel is devoid of funny quotes. The narrative again follows Eddie Murphy's Akeem, once a prince, now a king. In the sequel to the classic John Landis film, Akeem returns to America, not for a bride, but rather to meet a son he sired his first time in the States before he met his future wife.
