Armor sets are very important in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. They provide set bonuses when all pieces are equipped together which may be critical for a life-saving moment. In fact, most armor pieces seem to be all apart of a set with scarcely any armor being a stand-alone piece. Ubisoft gets players started early with some in-game pre-order bonuses to help them hit the ground running. The Berserker gear packs are among these bonuses and can be acquired if players have pre-ordered at least the Ultimate edition.

In the case that players have not pre-ordered the game, linking to Ubisoft Connect will also allow access to the armor set. Both consoles and PC have access to this application that allows players to spend points earned from in-game feats and purchase items to help them along. From the store, players can purchase the armor for 4.99 and it should be maxed out. Here's how players get access to the Berserker armor set in-game.

The armor becomes available to players very early in the game. After Escaping Kjotve, rescuing Eivor's crew, and making back home, players have to kill some time before speaking to the king. During this time, a quest "Family Matters" will begin and players will have to go around the settlement and speak to just about everyone with a symbol above their heads. Eivor will receive a warm welcome from each of these individuals as well as some advice and games to participate in. This quest is meant to familiarize players with the shops and "extra-curricular" activities in Valhalla. After finishing all of the encounters, players will receive an in-game notification that the armor set has been placed in their bag. All players have to do is head to inventory, and select each armor piece and equip it to the relevant body part.

For those who have pre-ordered the game and receive the gear at its base level, head to the blacksmith to rank the armor pieces up. Copper ore is used to upgrade the armor to the second stage while more rare materials will be required to upgrade it further. Don't confuse this with leveling the armor as this is an entirely different process that uses different materials. Leveling armor is dependent on the current state it's been upgraded too. Every upgrade adds another few level slots to increase the overall effectiveness of the gear. This can be done roughly 3-4 times until the armor info box color is gold. Don't forget to spend points in the red skill tree's as they provide bonuses for bear aligned armor.
