It's been a fun week seeing all the different ways the internet could photoshop Bernie Sanders into iconic images, but now Sander's true power is put on display as he wipes the floor with some of Souldcalibur 6's toughest characters.
During U.S. President Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20th, Bernie Sanders was in attendance, resulting in one of the most memorable inauguration moments of all time. Something about the casually dressed presidential candidate sitting cross-legged with a less than impressed look on his face took the internet by storm. Soon, Bernie found his way into movies, video games, and classic artwork bringing out the best in the internet. While these memes have been quite the treat, one internet user found a way to make sitting Bernie a bit more lively.
Taking the Bernie Sanders meme to the next level, User619 on YouTube published a Soulcalibur 6 mod showcase featuring Bernie Sanders as a playable character. The mod replaces Azwel's character model with a custom model of Bernie Sanders sitting cross-legged in a folding chair. Complete with a disposable face mask and fingerless mittens, Bernie Sanders spends 16 minutes absolutely pulverizing his opponents. While the mod doesn't allow Bernie to move very much, his statue-like posture makes each move that much more hilarious.
Of Soulcalibur 6's roster, Azwel was definitely the best choice for the Bernie Sanders mod. There is something about little ole' Bernie being able to summon an arsenal of energy blades without lifting a finger that makes him seem incredibly powerful. It also helps that the video showcases Bernie destroying Soulcalibur's top-tier characters as well as Geralt from The Witcher 3. Bernie Sanders may not be the leader of the United States, but he can be the "Leader of Humanity" with this hysterical mod.
Soulcalibur 6's character creator was fun for a while, but now it's time to make way for a new type of creations. If players can import Inauguration Bernie Sanders, it raises the question of who else would be better off moded into the game than created. Soulcalibur 6's character creator wouldn't be able to properly capture the essence of Bernie Sanders in a folding chair, and there are other characters with the same predicament. The Bernie Sanders chair meme has been taken to all new heights, and maybe the Bernie mod can pave the way for even more politically charged fighters.
