A new piece of brutal showdown art shows Ben Affleck’s Batman facing off against Deathstroke. Affleck appeared as the DCEU’s Batman on three different occasions, first in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman, a cameo in 2016's Suicide Squad, and then Joss Whedon's heavily altered theatrical cut of Justice League. Unfortunately for fans of ‘Batfleck,’ a horrid production experience on Justice League helped the actor lose his “passion” for the role, which meant his planned solo Batman film fell into the hands of Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson for 2021’s The Batman. However, despite Affleck hanging up the superhero cape, recently fans showed their appreciation for the actor’s portrayal as the Caped Crusader.

Similarly to Affleck’s Batman, post-Justice League, the DCEU’s Deathstroke, played by Joe Manganiello, was supposed to get a “pretty dark” solo film directed by Gareth Evans. But considering Evans’ most recent comments about his original plans for the film, and speaking as if it’s a project he “was” working on, it’s safe to assume the film is at least not in Warner Bros. current plans. However, with the Snyder Cut of the Justice League coming to HBO Max in early 2021, Manganiello teased “The original end credit scene...” on his Twitter with a Bat logo, leading many fans to believe there was some sort of battle with Affleck’s Batman. Of course, this has now led to fan art bringing this battle to life.

In an Instagram post by artist ultraraw26, it shows a piece of art depicting a very aggressive face-off between Affleck’s Batman and Deathstroke. Both Batman and Deathstroke hold their respective weapons, with Deathstroke even holding a knife under the neck of Batman. The visuals of the weapons combined with the ambiance of the setting and moon backdrop give it an appropriately dark vibe, fitting of Batman and this brutal showdown. The writing with the photo even adds to fan enthusiasm, with the artist writing: “I hope someday we might see both of them going head to head in some kinda death match.” Full Instagram post can be seen below:

Although fans are unsure if Batman and Deathstroke actually do battle in the “original end credit scene” of Snyder’s Justice League, it certainly seems like fans are hoping for an eventual Batman/Deathstroke showdown. Before this new piece of art, BossLogic even created a fan poster for Batman and Deathstroke. Thus far, clips from the Snyder Cut have already shown the much talked about Superman black suit and Wonder Woman discovering Darkseid, and with a runtime possibly longer than the reported 214 minutes, fans will likely see previously unseen footage of Batman and Deathstroke as well, regardless of whether the two do battle or not.

The buzz surrounding the release of the Snyder Cut on HBO Max has created a unique time where fans are pushing harder for previously unseen content, with their now being pushes for the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad, which reportedly had more Batman scenes in it. In regards to Manganiello’s Deathstroke, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Warner Bros. could end up making his solo film, which could eventually lead to Deathstroke doing battle with a Batman not played by Affleck. But for now, fans can enjoy this fan art and wait to see what the Snyder Cut will bring.
