Sydney Zaruba from Below Deck: Sailing Yacht gave viewers the inside scoop on the aftermath of the boat crash this season. The day before Parsifal III crashed into the dock in Croatia, the crew from the Bravo series had a fun day off on another boat, enjoying some drinks, laying on the beach, and taking a dip in the sea. It gave the crew some time to get to know each other better and spend time away from their work. Little did they know what would be taking place the next day.

After having a decent season in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, no one on board could have predicted not one, but two crashes would have taken place. The exterior crew and Captain Glenn Shepard went into panic mode after they realized the boat had hit the dock. Amidst the resulting chaos, interior crew members Daisy Kelliher, Alli Dore, and Dani Soares wanted to help in some way, but did not know what to do. Some of the cast was even worried the crash was so bad that they would have to end the season early.

During an exclusive interview with E! News, Sydney opened up about the boat crash that has been teased all season and occurred on the May 17 episode. "Let's just say, when a superyacht hits a dock, it's never a good thing," Sydney revealed. "The first damage was going to be expensive, the second damage is gonna be exponentially times that." When the Flordia native dished on the crash, she remained tight-lipped on the situation, but admitted it was something "you never want to happen." However, boat crashes aren't as uncommon in the industry as some might think, according to Sydney.

"There's three types of captains, I like to say," Sydney explained. "There's captains who have hit the dock, captains who have yet to hit the dock, and captains who have lied about hitting the dock." The boat first suffered some damage after strong winds caused it to scrape against the dock. In the following episode, a malfunction with the vessel caused it to collide with the front of the dock. The rear of Parsifal III was severely scratched, with a few pieces of the boat even crumbling into the water. The marina also partially collapsed after the ship crashed into it. Thankfully, not much damage was done, and all the crew had to do was paint the back of the vessel to mask the damage.

At that moment, Sydney was proud to have her exterior team by her side. Gary King, Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux, and Colin Macrae handled the second collision quite well and were able to do the best they could in this type of situation. Fortunately, the accident did not cause the crew to end their season sooner than it was supposed to.
