Gary King joined the brand new cast of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht for season two in early March. He wasn't the only new crew member to join the show, as the only returning cast member from season one was Captain Glenn Shephard. Gary was named the first mate of the boat and works alongside deckhands Sydney Zaruba and Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux. Even though Gary may expect nothing but perfection from his teams, he always knows when it is time to let loose and have a little fun.

Arriving on the Parsifal III in Croatia in the premiere episode was nothing new to Gary. He has been working in the yachting industry for more than 12 years as a first mate and a captain on smaller boats. Gary tries his best to not get distracted at work, but crew drama can sometimes get the best of him, especially now that he put himself in the middle of a love triangle with Sydney and Alli Dore.

According to Reality Titbit, Gary was born and raised in South Africa, but moved to New Zealand at an unknown time. At the age of 18, the first mate traveled to Europe during a gap year and ended up accepting his first job on a yacht. He started in the yachting industry as a way to make easy money, but ended up enjoying the work and has been traveling the world ever since. Some of the places Gary has traveled to for work include Spain, Greece, Cuba, Italy, New Zealand, and Norway. Through his experience, Gary has been able to captain smaller boats and run the deck on several busy superyachts. His 12 years of experience on the exterior of a boat have been apparent in the way he runs his deck team on the show.

On the show, Gary has shown how exceptional he is at his job as the first mate. However, he tends to lack self-control, especially when it comes to dating the crew. By the end of the second episode, Gary had already hooked up with one of the crew members – his deckhand, Sydney. The pair work closely together throughout the day, so the tension between them was definitely felt by the rest of the crew. However, Gary wasn't really interested in Sydney and was hoping he could develop a closer bond with the third stewardess, Alli. Now that he and Alli have cemented a romantic relationship, emotions are high between Gary, Alli, and Sydney. Hopefully, his mishap doesn't put Gary's job in jeopardy.

Gary has been in the yachting industry for over a decade, so it is no surprise he has been successful during his time on Below Deck: Sailing Yacht. He has been working on boats since he was a teenager, and it seems as though he does not plan on leaving the industry anytime soon. Plus, the drama he brings as a playboy makes him all the more attractive to Bravo. As for whether or not he will make it to season three, only time will tell.
