Hannah Ferrier and Captain Sandy Yawn's relationship has been up and down since they first met at the start of Below Deck Mediterranean season 2. At the time, chief stew Hannah claimed she had never been micromanaged by a captain like she was by Sandy. It was off-putting, but Hannah managed to get through their first season together successfully.

While the two may have had tension during their initial season, they seemed to have squashed any lingering negativity by the following season. However, tensions between Hannah and Sandy only grew further. From the moment they met, Hannah knew Sandy wasn't someone who would be on her side.

Sandy wants her crew to look up to her and see her as a mentor. Hannah didn't kiss up to Sandy the way she hoped, and Sandy has since held a grudge against the chief stew. Over the years, the crewmates never saw eye-to-eye and probably never will.

Met In Season 2

The pair met during Below Deck Med season 2 when Sandy was introduced as the new captain of the series. The captain and Hannah immediately got off on the wrong foot, as Sandy was trying to tell Hannah what to do and how to do it. The Australian native was used to working on her own and doing things at her own pace, but everything changed after she started working with Sandy. While they hit troubled waters in their working relationship, it seemed as though Sandy and Hannah were still able to work together civilly.

At Odds During Season 3

In season 3, Hannah and Sandy were hoping to develop a better friendship and working relationship. While it started great, once Sandy began to notice Hannah was developing feelings for bosun Conrad Empson, she began to turn on her. Sandy called her out for not doing her job properly and focusing too much of her time on Conrad. Their friendship seemed to take a turn for the better after Hannah suffered a panic attack and Sandy was there to console her. However, when Hannah was feeling better, she decided to accompany Conrad on the tender with the guests. Sandy was not happy with the amount of time she was out at sea and almost fired her.

Developed Some-Type of Friendship

Going into season 4, Hannah was hoping to develop a better working relationship with Sandy. While the season started off fine, by the end, Sandy still didn't feel as though Hannah was giving the job 110%. Sandy told Hannah that while she did much better than her last season, she can see the chief stew lacked passion for the career. Hannah was clearly disappointed in her response and realized she and Sandy will never see eye-to-eye.

Their friendship came to an end during season 5 after Sandy found out Hannah had unregistered Valium and a vape pen on board. Sandy called Hannah to the bridge and immediately told her to depart the boat. While Hannah was furious, she left the boat without making a scene. However, after the season began to air, Hannah started to express her true feelings towards her former captain. Sandy even tried to send Hannah a baby gift after she found out she was expecting. Hannah didn't answer the request, as she refuses to accept a gift from someone who tried to ruin her life.

Overall, Hannah felt betrayed by Sandy despite her making an effort to show what a great chief stew she is to Sandy. Now that Hannah is no longer on Below Deck Mediterranean, she is looking to move on from trying to impress Sandy.
